I have throughout 2016 stayed in most motels in Morwell and without doubt this is the best. Friendly welcome on arrival and shown to room, heater was on which was lovely arriving late afternoon on a cold day. The rooms have been extensively renovated to a high standard including double glazed windows and are very quiet. The king size bed was very comfortable and the included self serve breakfast was well stocked and great. The bathroom had a seperate shower with a fantastic rain shower head,...

As a visitor to Morwell attending a two day seminar at the Latrobe Regional Gallery my first priority was to find a place to stay within walking distance to the Gallery. Being elderly and slightly handicapped a walk-in shower and ground floor room essential. My hosts were extremely helpful and generous. Upon arrival I was met and informed I had been upgraded and given a ground floor room away from the main road. My host escorted me to the room and ensured that everything was operating...

They were very flexible on check-in time and very helpful. The room was lovely and clean, the beds were comfortable & pillows too.
The pool was not open for a swim (September) at this time of year which was disappointing. But we were told this when we were booking. It would have been great to use the pool. But apart from that everything was wonderful

The best area to stay in Shady Creek is the town centre, particularly around Main Street and the riverside parklands.
This central area is the heart of Shady Creek, offering a convenient base for exploring. Main Street is lined with independent shops, cafes, and restaurants, leading directly to the scenic Shady Creek River and its well-maintained walking paths. You'll find a mix of historic buildings and modern amenities, all within easy walking distance.
Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will find the town centre ideal. They can enjoy leisurely strolls along the river, browse the local boutiques, and dine at quality restaurants without needing to travel far. Many accommodations in this area offer views of the river or the surrounding hills, adding to the tranquil experience.
For families, the area around the riverside parklands is a great fit. There are open green spaces for children to play, and easy access to the river for gentle activities like kayaking or paddle boarding.
When is the best time to go to Shady Creek?
While Shady Creek is lovely year-round, the best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
Autumn in Shady Creek offers crisp, sunny days superb for enjoying outdoor activities like bushwalking in the nearby national parks. The foliage around the creek turns beautiful shades of red and gold, making for picturesque scenery without the peak summer heat. It's an ideal time for couples looking for a romantic escape with comfortable temperatures for exploring.
Spring brings mild temperatures and the blossoming of native wildflowers, particularly around the walking trails in the Shady Creek State Park. This season is excellent for those who enjoy hiking and wildlife spotting, as the cooler mornings and warm afternoons are superb for extended outdoor excursions. Families will appreciate the comfortable weather for activities like picnicking by the creek or visiting local farms.
The summer months (December to February) can be quite hot, making outdoor activities less comfortable during the middle of the day, though the evenings are pleasant.
