Lovely comfy stay

It was a lovely stay for all my family and friends. The staff were very friendly, they also recommended nice places to visit which was beautiful. Rooms were clean and comfy, Pool was very nice and clean.They also helped us to book taxi and cruise. We had a wonderful time. I will definitely recommend it to others.

Nice and quiet

Really helpful and friendly staff. They coordinated with me before I arrived to arrange pickup from the airport, which was much appreciated. Special shout out to the bartenders by the pool for taking extra care of us hanging around the pool a lot. Nice and quiet area (exluding the planes roaring past towards the airport here and there). Really cute design of the hotel.

It was an amazing service. All staffs Were very welcoming. Even though we after checking out we used all facilities because our flight was late night. Very kind. Breakfast had lots of Choose and fresh. We loved it. Only thing a little difficulty with transport. Every one hour the bus comes but by renting a car or quad is perfect place to stay. Nice view.

Lots of space in our room. Very close to the airport and there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel. It’s a 10 min walk into town, 2-3 minutes to the rocky beach. Lots of privacy by the pool (no one really walking by as this location is a bit remote). Towels can be borrowed for the pool for a refundable 10 euros. The airplanes land nearby and you can hear then but you get used to it. The air conditioning works very well. We had a small fridge, which was awesome. 2 euros to get to Thira by bus and the restaurants were much cheaper in this area. We also had an balcony with a place to hang wet items. Overall it was a great experience. The sunrise was breathtaking and you could see it from the property but there’s a better view just a couple of minutes away.

Where to start… my honest and comprehensive review of Hotel Makarios where I stayed for a week a few weeks ago. The Good: The rooms are clean, well-equipped, and tidily maintained. The housekeeping team really does an excellent job – everything felt fresh, and the beds were especially comfortable. The location is fairly quiet, though it is directly under the flight path with planes landing nearby. Iys around 10 minutes from the airport in a taxi that will set you back between €30 and €40. That said, it's only about 10–15 minutes on foot away from the lively Kamari beachfront, which is convenient. The Not-So-Good: Unfortunately, there were several areas that needed improvement. The pools were okay – the water appeared green and murky, and the surrounding tiles looked neglected and in need of a deep clean. The poolside toilets, although plentiful, are located underground behind a damaged door. The lighting is so poor that you can barely see anything inside, and there are no signs for gender designation or locks on the stalls, which is a concern. Breakfast was underwhelming. It’s quite limited – occasionally, some bacon and beans, overcooked scrambled eggs, a few pastries, and some scattered continental items. The dining room itself is stiflingly hot, which may be intentional to avoid overcrowding, as none of the windows are opened. The staff do work incredibly hard under these conditions, but it doesn’t make for a pleasant experience. Breakfast is only available from 8–10

We had a lovely holiday here, clean room friendly staff, good pool, nice breakfasts and short walk to a great town with loads of tavernas and bars. Beach great, rocky but beautiful. Prepare to haggle down subbeds. Took our two young kids and it was all stress free and lovely.

I was shocked during check-in. I didn’t like the behaviour of the manager. We were charged 60 euro extra for our kids which was not mentioned in the hotel’s children policy. To my utter surprise the manager even threatened us of cancelling our prepaid booking & shockingly asking us to leave. How can tourist just leave a place which they booked earlier & the place is in an island.
