There is a Vons grocery store, a Smart and Final, and a variety of restaurants with in walking distance that are within about half a block. You can get just about anywhere in 15 minutes or less - from the beach, to the ball park, snap dragon stadium, or SDSU. There is a bus stop right across the street that goes directly to the trolley and you can take that to all the fun tourist spots in San Diego if you don't want to drive.
