"A lovely stay in a beautiful part of the world. We stayed in one of the accessible rooms, so can’t comment on the other accommodation, but our room was clean, if a little dated. The real positives were the staff, genuinely lovely and welcoming – along with excellent food and a great selection of local beers on tap. "Lovely room however the large radiators were belting out high heat all the time and they could not be turned off in your room, the temperature was like a sauna. A fan was provided but hardly took the edge off the sweltering temperature. The windows could not be unlocked so no air in the room. Such a shame or it would have been perfect."

Our room was spacious and the decor was welcoming, however little issues, eg at least one wall needs repainting, extension lead has to be used to plug in kettle. Single glazing with paint flaking windows. Breakfast was excellent with cheerful staff. Some love and attention to room could have improved our stay."

"The hotel does not live up to the advertising. It is not aging well. The lift was broken throughout our stays. The floors are extreme creaky and you hear everybody moving throughout the building. The doors to the rooms slam shut and again can be heard by all. The room my wife and I were put in had a sloping roof that made accessing one side of the bed a difficult process."

"One night stay in this historic house now being used as a hotel located a short walking distance from Hawick centre set in an attractive garden with a wonderful park nearby. Lovely interior with large attractive lounge, entrance hallway and staircase. Large bedroom and en suite bathroom. The Large king-size bed was firm and therefore not that comfortable. Breakfast was a standard traditional option with cereal and juices. Not much interaction with staff except at check in and ordering breakfast. Short and to the point. Free car parking immediately outside hotel front entrance. I would recommend the hotel for a short stay purely for the novelty factor."

"A fantastic location and great staff, unfortunately the property needs an overhaul, tired and under maintained rooms and bathrooms made it an uncomfortable stay. The property felt like it just fell in from the 1960’s, including the internet, I spent 2 nights there for business, however, I couldn’t hence hold video conference calls as the WiFi was at best non-existent…!"
