Great location, near both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The rooms were clean, but the bathroom and air conditioning were quite outdated. Still, it was a nice place to stay for a couple of nights.

Worth it

The check-in process over the New Year’s holiday was a little challenging. To be fair though the hotel recognized that we travelled overnight and they opened up a room to allow us to shower and change clothes. That was great. It took some time to get us into our room but once they fixed the issue the stay was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel breakfast was very good and a great way to begin the day. The location is really good and it’s easy to find. The only change we would make is to make the bed in the room a little more comfortable. Overall we had a great experience at Copa Sul Hotel.

As expected with few extras. Pros: - The hotel is in a great location between Copacabana and Ipanema. - Friendly housekeeping team, room was well maintained. - Decent breakfast but same everyday. Cons: - WiFi is VERY unreliable. I was on the 12th floor. It wouldn’t connect on all of my devices and was not strong enough for many things. Definitely not to strong enough to work. - Very strict policy on bringing guests. Even just friends who weren’t staying nearby just to get changed after the beach etc before heading out. Not sure if this was just for carnaval period but never had this in any hotel before. - Would be nice to have a kettle in the room and just some tea/coffee options. Small thing that would make a big difference. - Breakfast ends at 10, would’ve been nice to have an extra hour on most days I was there

Was ok, location was what we went for. Issues were the lifts could take forever, sometimes we just took the stairs. The air con was a box through the wall type which was noisy. Noise from the street if you’re on the front. Breakfast was the same every day, tinned sausages, scrambled eggs, bread. and fruit.

Staff was friendly. However, I had a hard time getting the room cleaned. I had to call the reception desk multiple times to get the room cleaned on two days of my stay. The elevator is also exceedingly slow.

Do not stay here! It’s awful and expensive.

There were lots of ants all over the desk and around the room. A pipe burst in hallway flooding the elevator shafts and they had to shut down the elevators for part of the day. This isn’t the worst hotel I’ve stayed in but the only hotels I’ve stayed in that were worse were half the price. The price for this hotel was outrageous for how bad this property is.

Roughly one hundred dollars in Brazilian currency was stolen from my room while I was out to dinner. There was no sign of a break-in so I assume the thief must be someone who has access to the hotel's rooms. Obviously I would never stay there again. (I did not report the theft to the hotel, because I didn't realize the money was gone till I was at the bus station, and anyway, what could they have done?)

O hotel não é tudo isso. Pelas fotos, esperava muito mais. Fiquei no quarto 701, que é muito antigo, e o banheiro lembra o de uma favela — entendo que esse padrão já faz parte do hotel. O café da manhã também não me encantou: a xícara era muito pequena, me fazendo levantar várias vezes para tomar café com leite; o copo de suco, então, parecia até que era para racionar.

O hotel fica bem localizado em Copacabana já perto do arpoador. Quarto amplo apesar de antigo, cama confortável. Da recepção ao café da manhã e arrumação, toda a equipe é muito simpática, solicita e cordial. O café da manhã está incluido para todas as diárias e apartamentos o que é raro atualmente. Apesar de não contar com piscina em sua estrutura, empresta toalhas e barracas para uso na praia, que fica a uma quadra. Excelente custo beneficio.

O hotel é bem localizado, com excelente café da manhã e ótimos atendentes. A limpeza foi razoável. Banheiro foi limpo mas não o box que ficou cheio da areia da praia. A cama não é muito confortável. O quarto é grande e confortável.
