I'll get the bad news out of the way first. The location is absolutely stunning - but that is a curse as well as a blessing. Casa Marques is up a long winding road, high into Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa was once the preserve of the rich, in the forested hills looking down on Rio. The beautiful houses are still there, some of them converted into boutique hotels (like this one), but some of the spaces in between have been taken over by the less wealthy, and these favelas give Santa Teresa a distinctly 'edgy' feel - to the extent that some taxi drivers refuse to come up the hill. If this is a problem, the hotel has the details for a local taxi co-op who will happily collect you from elsewhere in the city (Santaxi, +55 (21) 25021111). Once you have arrived, the news is all good. the hotel is built around a beautiful (1920's/30's?) house - lots of space and light, with a terrace and small infinity pool on the top floor. the views are to-die-for, with the Corcovado (with the iconic Christ statue) to one side, and the city straight ahead. Our room was large and airy, with the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. Breakfast was fine (cold-cuts, fruit, and omelettes cooked to order) and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you don't fancy venturing out in the evening, they can order take-away food to be delivered. My wife gave me full marks for this one!
Casa Marques is a hidden treasure, its a must see place, there you will feel very comfortable and safe, and will enjoy one of the best views of Rio de Janeiro. it is just a litle hard to get an uber to drive you to the location specially on rainy days, but the hotel offers transfer, so I would consider book it as well in advance and everything will be perfect!
The staff, the decor, the design, the VIEWS from your room are breathtaking. It would be nice to be closer to downtown Santa Teresa but guess we can hace ot both. Also a full service restaurant and bar would be also nice to have but again we didn't spend most of tje time there either.

Área externa: melhor parte do hotel, tanto a recepção quanto a piscina
This hotel has such potential. The view is insane, the rooms and pool super nice and the staff were nice enough. The lack of dining options and late breakfast start just don’t make sense. With labor being so cheap in Brazil I feel this property is really missing out on adding “value-added” services. It wouldn’t take much to offer a pre-set dinner menu or at the very least a pizza/beer option. Thankfully the view makes up for any annoyances we encountered.

So much to learn about hotell business
To deliver a great customer experience at the hotel is not an easy task. It is not enough to rebuild an old building to "boutique" hotel if you don't have any idea of what a hotel business should include. You have builded a strong marketing presentation, but the reality is far from the dream you are selling. The worst breakfast ever, bad cleaning/no daly cleaning, no hairdryers at the room, no restaurant after 3pm, dirty furniture, crazy prices for drinks and bad customer service. The hotel is too far from everything and you can feel quite isolated. Even if the design was quite interesting with an amazing view it is far from enough!

A very clean and well kept accomodation but it is situated on the top of a hill that is not easily accessible. It is too far down to the town to walk. Even taxi and Uber drivers refused to go up the hill sometimes. This also made it very expensive to travel down to the nearby town areas. I don't think I would recommend staying here because the good views are not worth the hassle of traveling to and from the hotel
A piscina é bem bonita e aconchegante.
Perfect boutique hotel with stunning views. Rooms were great and couldn't have had a better first couple of days. Staff was really helpful with recommendations of everything from restaurants to things to do. My only heads up for anyone choosing this hotel is that the location makes you a bit secluded from "Rio life". You have to take taxis everywhere and it's location is not very accessible for anything really. We did 3 nights at Casa Marques and then 4 nights at Ipanema Inn by Ipanema beach wich was great as we got a bit of both worlds.
