About this property
Lone Bear Cabin: Lv2 EV, WiFi, River Access, Mountain Views, fireplace, hot tub
****NEW for 2026**** We’ve opened up our previously locked off master with a king bed to guests, with a king bed, a private en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace. The house and 3 acre property are still for your exclusive use and no one but you will be there during the stay. We added new listing photos on April 22, 2026 ************************
********BEWARE OF AI GENERATED INFORMATION ON ALL LISTINGS*********************
Hosts have no control over the distances and AI generated information listed in the "What's Near By" , "About the neighborhood", "Frequently asked questions", "Space to gather" and "Explore the area". Please do not go by this if it's important to be near a listed point of interest. These are all AI generated based on our address and we cannot change the text in the descriptions or the arrival times for the points of interest.
We do NOT have an arcade room.
For example, VRBO's AI generated description says the Shenandoah River is a 3 minute walk. The neighborhood access point is .9 miles away and a 20 minute walk.
The AI generated "Space to gather" says we are a riverfront home and we are NOT a riverfront home.
DO rely on our photos and all text from here to "**END Owner Created Description**"
Don't hesitate to send us a quick note if you have questions on what's near the cabin. I have the VRBO app on my phone and I can always respond quickly. *************************
Welcome to Lone Bear Cabin, a mountain view retreat on three private acres near Luray, Virginia. You have the entire place to yourself for the stay. This is our own getaway too, so we keep it clean, comfortable, well stocked, and maintained the way we want it when we arrive.
THE SPACE * Dogs only are welcome, with up to 2 dogs under 50 pounds each, and the pet fee is $100 per stay. Please indicate you have pets on your booking so you are charged appropriately. Bringing dogs without paying the pet fee is a violation of the rental agreement. * The upstairs primary suite has a king bed, en suite bathroom, a sitting room, and a dedicated workspace * The second upstairs bedroom has a king bed. * The main level bedroom has a queen bed. * The basement has a futon in an open area, and it is best for a child or teen since it is not as comfortable as a bed and has limited privacy.
BATHROOMS * The home has three full bathrooms. * Two bathrooms are tub and shower combos. * The en suite master bathroom is a shower only.
WE AND OUR GUESTS LOVE: * Our basement pool table and game space is nice especially for families and rainy days. * Starlink WiFi suitable for streaming and video calls (speeds can vary in storms) * ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV charger, 40 amp for the J1772 connector * The location is a great home base for Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and Luray. * Comfortable beds and a cabin that feels like a real home, not a bare bones rental.
KITCHEN * The kitchen is fully equipped for real meals, and we provide both drip and Keurig coffee makers. * If you cannot find something or an item is worn, message us and we will replace it quickly.
RIVER ACCESS We are not riverfront, but the neighborhood Home Owners Association (HOA) provides river access to the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Bring your own tubes or kayaks. Adult life jackets are available upon request, and we recommend bringing child sizes if needed.
There are two access points. The first 0.9 miles away with parking available, and the second 1.2 miles away for drop-off and pick-up. Enjoy tubing for about two hours or kayaking for about 30 minutes between these points.
CABIN POINTERS * Keep in mind our well, our septic and space are neither equipped, licensed nor insured to host more than 6 people. Please reach out if you are unsure if our place is suitable for your daytime visitors if you will go above our max occupancy. * No smoking or vaping is allowed. * Filtered well water is drinkable, and the home uses a septic system, so please flush toilet paper only. * About one mile of graded gravel road leads to the cabin, and compact two wheel drive sedans are fine except during the worst snow storms. We personally drive our compact ford focus and we rarely have access issues except in heavy snow * The neighborhood clears the road during major snow events, but conditions can vary, so all wheel drive is recommended during heavy snow. * A fragrance free laundry option is available on request for a small supply cost.
HOT TUB We have a 600-gallon Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub, comfortably fitting up to 8 people. Our dedicated cleaners and hot tub service company ensure it’s always in top condition.
SERVICE AND SUPPORT We take pride in providing exceptional service. Should anything not meet your standards, we have several service contracts and area companies on retainer ready to assist you. We also provide videos and instruction guides for all house amenities to ensure a hassle-free stay.

A beautiful location and a very comfortable house, great for our family with two little kids. Just a couple hours from the DMV, but a world away for beauty and relaxation in Virginia. We discovered the terrific Shenandoah River State Park just 15 minutes away. Host is great communicator, everything went smoothly.
The house beautiful and exactly as it was listed. We loved the space, it was very nicely decorated - not over the top, just right. The amenities were great for our stay - dishwasher, washer, & dryer. Beds were comfortable. It was very clean and well taken care of. The hot tub was a wonderful plus and one of the reason we booked this place. It is a large hot tub which was very nice. The view is stunning!! We would definitely stay here again.
Mark was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin is well supplied with everything one could need. The beds were comfortable, the view was amazing and it wasn’t too far from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. We would return here in a heartbeat!
This place was everything as stated. Communication with the owner was prompt and positive. Loved the view and the peaceful areal Would stay there again.
We had a great time at Mark's cabin in the wood of VA. Location we quiet and tranquill. Hot tub, five pit, and pool table made out time at the cabin enjoyable. Away from the cabin it was close to the National Park, Luray Caverns, and some cute small towns.
The house and its views of the mountain are beautiful. Very quiet and private location. The hot tub was great, especially with the cold and snowy weather. This is our second time here, will definitely be back again.
Beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful. The hot tub was perfect after those long hikes .Everthing was clean, well stocked , and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
There’s not much else I can say that everyone else hasn’t said. The place was spotless, great hot tub, great views. A perfect place to get away and relax after a trip to Shenandoah. We would definitely stay here again!
Fantastic place to stay as home base for hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Quiet comfortable location, 20 minutes to Front Royal, 30 to Thornton Gap via Luray. Views from the porch were stunning. WiFi worked great for the half day of office work. The beds were comfy, the home luxurious after a day of winter hiking. Great owner who was very responsive.
We had a great stay at Lone Bear Cabin. The deck and view were awesome and we spent ALOT of time enjoying them. The house was great and the host was easy to reach . The access to the Shenandoah State Park and Skyline drive were great - was a great place to explore the area from.
Communication with the property owner was awesome. House itself was spotless and had everything we needed. Location was perfect...beautiful views. So cozy and comfortable!!
Had a fantastic stay. The house is lovely and well stocked. We loved the pool table. Didn’t use the hot tub- but it’s huge! The location was great- spent a few days enjoying Shenandoah and also went to Luray and Front Royal. The views from the house are amazing. It was nice to just relax at the house and take it all in. We also enjoyed working on a puzzle in front of the fireplace. Would definitely stay again!!
House was exactly as advertised. Great views, comfortable, and very clean. Everything worked as expected- fireplace, hot tub, grill, fast internet etc. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and star gazing.
This property lives up to the description and the good reviews. It's an easy place with plenty of info. If you are not hiking or paddling you will want to live on the deck, an incredible place for a cup of coffee in the early morning as the sun hits the mountains before the valley. Hard to believe we were in such a remote and private place so close to DC.
We had an amazing time at Lone Bear Cabin. The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The HUGE hot tub was amazing, and we really appreciated Mark's proactive communication. He called us to let us know about a coming snow storm to make sure we had four wheel drive, had someone come out to the house before arrival to salt the outdoor space, and he was super responsive to our few questions. Highly recommend, 10/10 stay, no notes!
