Bear Timbers log cabin on the Shenandoah River

This log style cabin has it all. Whether you just want to get away and relax or celebrate a romantic weekend, Bear Timber’s has it all. House sits on Shenandoah river, has hot tub, fire pit, and canoes. A short walk down to the river from the back porch you will have your own private riverbank. Swim in the river, canoe, fish, and then come back for a relaxing dip in the hot tub or sit out by the fire pit.

The house is fully equipped with pots, pans, dish ware, gas BBQ grill, gas fireplace/stove, TVs, Internet, both a screened and open porch. Washer and dryer on premises along with a dishwasher. All you need is your food and clothes. Everything else is available to make your stay worry free. This is a very clean modern cabin with rustic touches to make you feel right at home. High quality mattresses and bedding will give you restful sleep in absolute silence.

Easy access to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park - 24 minutes
Close to 2 ski resorts - 50 minutes to Massenutten Ski Resort and 60 minutes to Bryce Ski Resort
Near by activities: Horse back riding, hiking, skiing, zip lining, Luray Caverns, Vineyards


Note: You cannot see the river from the house, which is a short walk down the driveway. The back of the property opens up to a beautiful view of the river. The Property Fee includes a $10 nightly fee for firewood, which is maintained on the property for your use.

Great Place for a Family Getaway

This was a great cabin home in a great area of VA. The home was the perfect size for a small family with all of the amenities you would want. The host was very responsive and accommodating during our stay. Luray is a short 15-20 minutes away with lots of great activites and things to see. Couldnt ask for more.

The place is fantastic! It is super clean and everything is nice, new, and works perfectly. The hot tub is very modern and a perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. Be sure to ask the owner for restaurant recommendations. They were all spot on. Hope to come back.

Clean and cozy

We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Timbers for a long weekend. The cabin was extremely clean, the hot tub was wonderful, and we loved watching TV with the fireplace at night.

Solheim Cup stay

Very relaxed evenings after chaotic days at the Solheim Cup with massive crowds. Very nicely done cabin and very quiet. We really enjoyed it.

Spring Break Getaway!

The property was clean and so well stocked - the kitchen has spices and was even stocked with a hand mixer. The owners live nearby and we're available as a resource for ideas. They were also super responsive to any questions we had.It's a must stay!The road in was a little dusty, and the river had quite a bit of gnats. Bring big spray and a good hat!Otherwise, gorgeous property!

Perfect Cabin Getaway

The cabin is just perfect! The 4 of us enjoyed our time at Bears Timbers. The kitchen was fully stocked and plenty of towels for the bathrooms. Everything was clean and owners were very nice. We will come back again!

Perfect Place for a Peaceful Stay

The cabin was very clean, well furnished, and well stocked with supplies. The location is private, and the views from the river are very pretty. The town of Luray is a short drive away, so grabbing a bite to eat or a scoop of ice cream at local restaurants and shops is easy. The cabin also has a nice gas grill that was perfect for our steak night. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Great getaway

House is as described - very clean and has everything you need for a getaway. Owners are super communicative and kind. Love the gas fireplace in the main room, screened in porch, and hot tub. Short, beautiful walk to the river, which is much bigger than I was expecting.

Awesome Quiet vacation spot

All basic amenities were supplied. Wifey surprised me with my 40th Birthday with a nice 3 plus hr motorcycle ride to this wonderful secluded cabin vacation spot. Definitely looking forward to stopping in at this spot again in the future.

Great Spot for R&R

Spent a few days hanging out on the river, caught some fish, tried some local whiskeys and wines. A great time! Definitely on the “go back to” list.

Long Weekend Getaway

The cabin was very clean & had everything we needed. Had a slight hiccup with check-in but the owner was immediately on top of it. Billy was very attentive and responded quickly. As stated in the description, the river is located down the driveway but wished it was closer. Overall, we had a great time. Went to Luray Cavern & stopped at some distilleries & vineyards. Cooter’s was hysterical.

What a wonderful peaceful place. Bring your clothes, toothbrush and food and you are set. Absolutely everything is there. Lovely cabin, comfortable bed, great deck and porch and leisurly stroll to river. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to rest and refresh.

Beautiful cabin with everything that you need

We stayed at the cabin while visiting Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns. Billy was an amazing host who proactively communicated with us throughout our stay. We were impressed with the cabin and its cleanliness. Simple things like the variety of board games, first aid kit, bidet, and prime video streaming made it real like a home away from home. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a place to stay in the mountains.

Beary Relaxing

Bear Timbers cabin is a quaint and lovely home. The home provided all the things we needed during our short trip (2 nights). Our mornings consisted of taking a nice walk to the river which is located a short walking distance from the cabin. We enjoyed the views of SNP while soaking in the hot tub. The cabin was very clean and well kept. We are not tap water drinkers, but after reading the welcome manual we did drink from the tap and it was very clean tasting and refreshing. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return in the future.

Great for family trip

My family of four had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. Loved the gas fireplace. Sadly it rained for most of our weekend stay so we didn’t get to use the canoes on the river like we had hoped, but we did walk down to the river and it was very beautiful. My kids loved that we saw so many deer near the house and in neighborhood. Location is great, just a short drive to Luray. We would definitely stay again.

Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River 😎

🎶 Almost heaven, $%&* Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze 🎶 We had a wonderful family trip to Bear Timbers cabin. Spent our days hanging out on the river, listening to Neil Young, Johnny Cash, John Denver, & watching the Summer Olympics in a clean & beautiful air conditioned cabin. Grilled up some steaks & burgers at night. Made smores around the campfire. Great trip all around!! My kids give it "one million stars". We had an absolute blast! Thank you for the hospitality & accommodations :)

Great River Adventures

This house lives up to its billing. While it isn’t isolated within its own community, it is far enough off the beaten path you’ll feel like you’ve gotten away, but not so far that you can’t easily get whatever you need after a short drive. Having river access is awesome; all we had to do was drive up to our drop in poly and kayak the ten river miles back to the house. The next day, we drove the car to our take out point and did another ten miles by dropping in right there. The hosts are on top of anything you might need. The river is a little bit of a trek but all that did for us was make us feel more attuned to the outdoors! Our dog loved being able to walk and sniff to her hearts content on the property and also enjoyed stretching her legs at the massive local dog park in Front Royal. We will absolutely be back again.

Comfy Gem

Perfect 2 BDR 2BA for 4 adults. Well-equipped modern kitchen. Both screened and unscreened covered porches were delightful to enjoy the hundreds of birds (we counted 37 species!). Short walk to the river. Canoes available but we didn’t use them. We loved the hot tub, though! Nearby town of Luray has some surprisingly good restaurants. Loved the meandering path along the waterway through town. Nearby Luray Caverns is a gem. Lots of local wineries and distilleries. We had a wonderful week!
