"A very important thing to remember with this property is that it is managed REMOTELY. This is super important as you won’t be able to access the property until you receive a message from the remote manager given you the access codes . I didn’t realize this and I only have WiFi so I didn’t see the message. Luckily after a few mins the manger happened to be outside and let me in but there is no traditional office or welcome desk . "This was a last minute stay for us as our plans changed due to a forest fire in the Douro valley. The hotel room was very clean but unfortunately the shower didn’t work when we arrived, the fault was quickly fixed when we reported it to reception although I had to go downstairs for this as the room phone didn’t work. Breakfast was ok, it was unlabelled which made it much more difficult for me to find items to suit my dairy intolerance and I wasn’t confident in the quality of staff advice when I asked for help. I found enough food but it meant my choices were very limited. Clear allergy labelling and/ or an allergy folder or information sheet on allergens in standard items for customers would really help with this. Staff were very helpful in taking care of our bags and we enjoyed exploring the local area, especially the botanical gardens. We also went to the Casa da Musica for a performance by the Symphonic Orchestra and this was totally amazing, I highly recommend. All in all, this hotel was good value but could be better with slightly more attention to details and allergy information."
