"We had a fabulous time! This was an adventure for our whole family. The living area is big enough for many people to gather and play games, there are about 4 bathrooms with toilets, and one with a shower with decent hot water (I was pleasantly surprised). The A/C worked GREAT, always a gamble for 80 plus year old properties in Texas, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable all reported, even on the upper bunks. We felt very safe at night, and the strand was an easy one block away (try the old fashioned photo place, it was a hoot!).The hosts could not have been more accommodating and gracious. We have stayed in several unique/adventurous rentals and none have been as charming as this in both the property and the hosts. And your fees help support the restoration of these historic trains so what could be better?"

"barebone lodging option, good bang for the buck. Convenient location to the ocean and just 20 min walk to cruise terminals (we ended up hailing a uber anyway but definitely walkable for the energetics). To the east of the hotel, there are several wallet-friendly dining options, we enjoyed the little family Italian pizza place, apparently it is also a favorite among the locals."

"It was all wonderful from the get go. I texted we would be getting in in the evening and both the owner and concierge texted me back with details and welcomed. Aaron met us when we got there and he did a show and tell of the property and its history. All of the staff was phenomenal, breakfast was excellent, and we can’t wait to go back. "

"This property just needs to go that little extra step and take care of the mold that's on the caulk in the bathtub. Fix the bathroom mirror that doesn't hang correctly. Adjust the rug on the floor. It's a tripping hazard and the doors hang on the rug and if they would add those little multi plugs to the nightstands where you don't have to get down on the floor to plug your chargers in that would be fantastic. The property itself is in a good location. Great for walking the area. We felt safe and it was clean. Overall. We enjoyed our time."
