A very nice property well situated for touring the Lake District. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly. Only fault was that our room was very small.

What a lovely place to stay- friendly welcome to a very comfortable room. The meal was more expensive than I would normally pay, but it was a very special experience. Maybe a slightly cheaper option on the menu would be welcome, but I would still strongly recommend.

This was a stop over from travelling down from Scotland. Easy to find from the motorway. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff very polite and accommodating. Decided to have an evening meal which was first class, well presented and my steak was cooked perfectly. Couldn't really fault it. Stayed in room 4 which is directly over the restaurant dining area which was ok if a little noisy however comfy bed soon had us both asleep. Morning breakfast was good and tasty so no issues there. Would most definitely stay there again. Cost for us was £70 for the night including the breakfast so very good value for money. Recommend getting up a bit earlier for a walk just down the road along the river. No phone signal was a bonus but did have wifi.

Lovely stay in Pooley Bridge
We had a fantastic stay, welcoming from the start. Our room was lovely and clean, comfy bars and a great nights sleep. We had the 3 course dinner in beautifully designed surroundings. The food was super stylish and delicious, very beautifully presented. The beef tartare was amazing as was the artichoke soup. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast too. Will definitely be coming back. Pooley bridge has a lot to offer. Thanks

Seated here for one night. The room was lovely, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Only thing I could say negative was that it was quite cool temperature wise and I slept in my dressing gown. Could have done with another radiator in that room. Staff were amazing, really helpful. Food was absolutely outstanding, and the breakfast was one of the best i have had. Cleanliness was second to none. Everywhere was spotless. You cant go wrong if you stay here, you will get a wonderful experience.

Great place to stay staff are very good, room was vèry nice we found the bed a bit uncomfortable but by no means bad. The menu in the restaurant is pricey and if you want a hearty meal eat somewhere else.

The staff are obviously committed to what they do. This is not merely a job but a career! The food is exquisite and the presentation is picture perfect. Everyone was very accommodating, friendly and mindful of needs. It would have been great if there had been literature in the room for those interested in doing walks from and in the area.

Fantastic dining - both the food and the service/welcome were superb. Room a little on the "cosy" side and bed a little firm for our liking but we will certainly be making a return visit. Great restaurant and lovely location on the edge of the village and lakeshore.

We really enjoyed our overnight at 1863. It was a horrendous night outside but so welcoming & cosy inside. Our room was spotlessly clean and newly redecorated. Extremely comfortable. We had a drink from the bar sitting by the fire, before a most delicious dinner. Our meals were beautifully presented and served - all of the ingredients explained. Portions looked small but we had more than enough to eat, each mouthful more tasty than the last. We were so comfortable and having a great chat that we probably outstayed our welcome, but Mark and his staff were so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely make this our destination to stay when travelling in this part of the world.

Great little boutique hotel in a great location
This is a great little boutique hotel in a wonderful location by Ullswater. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful,nothing was too much trouble. Converted a couple of years ago from a B&B, the owners have tried very hard to inject personality and flair into the place. Our room was the smallest they had, it was the only one free when we booked, and was a bit snug but very comfortable. The bathroom was equally compact and only had a shower, but it was adequate for our one night stay. The restaurant is nicely laid out and the menu was an interesting collection of modern dishes. Portions are small, but well presented. I must admit to being disappointed with the dessert, which was a chocolate delice,not to my taste, but the others sounded good. The cooked breakfast was excellent, I had the Cumberland breakfast, with black pudding, baby mushrooms, bacon, egg a hash brown and the thinnest Cumberland sausages I have ever seen! All good quality ingredients. Parking is very limited, but I understand that they have access to an overflow area nearby. Not sure where and as we arrived late, didn't ask and managed to fins a spot in a public car parking area very close by. Be ware, the public car park across the road only allows 2 hours parking between 9am and 5pm. We spoke to the owners the next morning and were shown around the hotel. They are very proud of it and with good cause. A great find and would stay again.

Great place to stay, room was excellent, location is perfect for exploring the area around Ullswater. Food at the restaurant was great and the breakfast was delicious, but if you’re an early riser or leaving early, it is not possible to get breakfast before 8:30am or even a cup of coffee. Our only complaint is they should be able to offer something other than instant coffee in the rooms!

Very stylish. Gorgeous hotel.
This is s beautiful hotel that has clearly had a lot of time and consideration into the decor and amenities. The room was modern stylish and immaculate. Comfy bed, crisp linen well stocked tea and coffee and toiletries. Shower room huge and looked brand new. Breakfast was amazing all you could possibly want. Daughter had eggs and salmon and I had full English. It is a well loved hotel and everything is to the highest standard even down to the cutlery. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Last minute booking based on previous reviews and cost. Had looked at the other hotels in Pooley Bridge but based on quality and service I think we made the right choice. Lovely clean rooms plus a charming dining area for evening meals and breakfast. As we were on a bit of a budget we decided to have our evening meal elsewhere. This was false economy on our part as based on the quality of the breakfast we're sure we would have enjoyed the evening meal far more at the bistro. Anyone staying at this location should really include evening meal as part of the visit.
