"The room was clean and had a view of the lake. The bed was comfortable. While the hotel is basic, I don't think it deserves the reviews it has received. It is a good, clean, comfortable stay. The price is more than I would expect in the city because it is in the middle of the South Island in a Dark Sky area, which adds costs."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Peel Cottage. It’s a charming and well-equipped place with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We especially appreciated the peace and quiet, as well as the cozy bedrooms and very comfortable beds. The extensive garden is beautiful. We loved watching the fantails and listening to the lively chorus of native birds. We would happily stay here again."

"Mountain view was beautiful. Room was huge for a double bed occupancy- you get an entire upstairs area for kitchen, dining and relaxing. Hot water in the shower area had a bit of issue but bath tub worked fine. Enjoyed our stay as the area is quiet, safe plus we got to see some stars out of balcony at night. Breakfast was delicious."

"Didn’t see any staff on that day. There's no shampoo, body wash just a handwash in the shower. No face tower, just one hand tower in the shared bathroom/toilet for the whole house. Love the kitchen and lounge area, clean and tidy. "
