I loved the atmosphere of the place!! The staff were so friendly and let me leave my bags early while I went out for the day. The communal areas were clean and easy to get around. The individual rooms were also very comfortable and had enough space for me and my belongings
Everything was great except for the fact that my room was soo cold because there’s no heating. They did provide an electric warmer that I put under the blanket to stay warm at night, but it was really cold outside the blanket, so something to keep in mind if booking in winter. The shower also didn’t have any hooks which was pretty inconvenient. But other than that the place is cleaned every day, there’s train station right outside and a Family Mart and not far from Dotonbori. Staff are also very nice.
It was unique and the graffiti style art throughout the place really made it its own little place I was happy I was able to experience while in Osaka. Great staff and fantastic location.
It’s a nice hostel close the Fine arts museum I wanted to visit and close to the subway station. The room was small but it was okay. You sleep on tatami on the floor - I found it very cool. Contras: light switcher is in the hallway and showers are on one floor, but not the same floor I stayed at. Very friendly stuff. You can do laundry and other activities there also.

The staff at Toyo were very pleasant and helpful, and for a backpackers hotel it was quite nice. Be mindful that this area of Osaka is very noisy at all hours.
A warm place to meet great people. The futons are really very thin, I don't recommend them. Hostel equipped with a kitchen and a common lounge where you can play wild games of Tekken 5

Old building, smelly rooms, and guests who were loud at night. The staff were amazing, though and they spoke fluent English.
It was really close to Dodutsuen Mae station though which when taken is relatively close to everything within a 14minute-30minute transit ride to what we needed.

The hotel offered good value for the price, but it was noisy at night, with guests frequently slamming doors. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell due to poor cleanliness. However, the location is convenient, close to public transportation and dining options.
I loved staying in Toyo hotel. Felt at home. You'll have your own room, small but with great space and a closet to have your luggage and personal things. A tv, a fan, a clean futon, all the necessary things for a comfortable stay. The common areas were good: 100yen coin laundry, clean bathroom and shower, kitchen and living room were you can just relax or have a nice conversation with the other guests. There's also vending machines inside the hotel with beer, soda, water, coffee. Of course, it's not fancy but the the mood is so warm. The staff was so nice and friendly. Not only that but the location is excellent, there were all kinds of food restaurants around, a subway and a JR station just one block away. Or you can just walk and arrive at namba in 10 minutes. The only inconvenience is there's no elevator, but the stairs were wide enough to move my luggage without disturbing others (one of the guys on staff was so nice for helping me take my big luggage up to my room on the fourth floor, thank you very much). Will definitely stay in Toyo hotel when I return to Osaka
Was a bit hesitant at first to stay here, but I’m glad I did. Absolute bargain price and even though it’s shared bathroom you still have a private room. No issues with the shared facilities they are clean and never overly busy. If you don’t mind a Japanese style bed and just want somewhere to sleep then this is the place. I didn’t take advantage of the communal area but it seemed quite busy if you’re looking to socialise.
Staff were really welcoming and friendly and spoke English. They showed me to my room on arrival and always greeted me when I was coming to and from the hostel and I’m sure if you had any questions or were looking for things to do they would be happy to help out.
Another plus is that it is about a minute walk away from the Osaka metro.
The only minor inconvenience was having to rent a towel. But it was only 100yen it is no issue at all.
