Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Old Road Town?
The best area to stay in Old Road Town is the coastal stretch along the Caribbean Sea, particularly around the main road (often referred to as Main Island Road or the Old Road Bay Road).

This area is the heart of Old Road Town, offering direct access to the sea and a relaxed pace. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and smaller resorts dotted along the coastline, providing easy access to the beach. It's a convenient base for exploring the western side of the island.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will appreciate this area. Its proximity to the beach allows for relaxed mornings and evenings by the water. Nearby attractions include Wingfield Estate, a historic sugar plantation, and the start of the scenic drive towards Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park.

For those who enjoy a bit more seclusion while still being close to amenities, properties slightly inland from the main road offer a more private setting.
When is the best time to go to Old Road Town?
The best time to visit Old Road Town is during the dry season, which runs from December to May, offering warm temperatures and minimal rainfall.

This period is ideal for those looking to enjoy the island's outdoor activities without the interruption of heavy showers. You'll find the weather consistently pleasant, superb for exploring the historic sites or relaxing by the coast.

For couples seeking a tranquil and comfortable escape, travelling between December and May ensures the most favourable conditions for sightseeing and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. The lower humidity and gentle breezes make for a very agreeable stay.

If you're planning a trip with family, the dry season provides reliable weather for all your planned excursions, from visiting the Wingfield Estate to enjoying the nearby beaches.
