"Such a wonderful experience. This smaller, quaint, relaxing spa was just the retreat we were looking for after 2 weeks of city life. We really enjoyed the slower pace, the food, and close proximity to Snow Monkey Park and Shiga Kogen."

"Location is good, opposite is the ski resort, which has good snow. Overall room was well maintained, public Onsen was nice too. However we came during early ski season, there is barely any restaurants opens. Hotel cafe food is a bit expensive, and not much choice (mainly western). If plan to stay may order half board instead, or tell hotel staff to reserve dinner before 10am"

"Uotoshi is remarkable value for money and is also unique.
The owner is very welcoming with great English.
The Ryokan is older and somewhat rundown but it is also a community hub that has sing along classes for local kids (Rudolph the red nose reindeer in Japanese is awesome) and have fun with English nights.
There is a Kyudo (Japanese archery) range behind the Ryokan which has classes taught by the owner as well as area competitions.
Breakfast was varied and very tasty.
I thoroughly enjoyed...

"Very well taken care of hotel, although an older property. Liked that we could use private bath on reserved time. Good breakfast and close to the train station"

10/10 Excellent
"Clean room. Room size was good. Friendly staff. Free to borrow umbrellas. Free coffee in lobby. We did not eat breakfast there. Dinner was good. We went in November, hotel didn't seem very busy. The town seems quiet. Very close to train station. We went to the snow monkey park and Obuse. "
"The staff was helpful! The included Japanese breakfast was so good!! We had everything we needed. Also they had a shuttle to the snow monkey park! So great!"
