Let your inner-geek run wild amid the hundreds of innovative, hands-on exhibits at this Boston museum.

At the Museum of Science, the emphasis is on interactive learning, with hundreds of interesting exhibits encouraging you to get involved. With 700 exhibits, three floors, daily live shows and screenings, a 3-D cinema and a planetarium, there is so much to see and do that you should devote at least one full day to enjoying the museum to the full.

There is something at the Science Museum for everyone, regardless of age. Rediscover your inner child as you press buttons, turn wheels and look in magic mirrors, all the while learning about everything from human biology to the power of optical illusions.

A real highlight is the Live Animal Presentation. Featuring a collection of different birds, mammals and reptiles, the presentation explores the diverse behaviour and natural habitat of the animals. Many different species of butterfly and tropical plant live in the humid Butterfly Garden and kids will love the Colossal Fossil, where they can see a complete triceratops skeleton, which is over 65 million years old!

Alongside the natural world, modern science also features heavily. There is a simulator that can take you through the solar system, on an aircraft flight or to the very bottom of the ocean on a deep-sea dive. There are daily indoor lightning shows and a demonstration that involves using liquid nitrogen to change and affect different objects in various ways.

There are plenty of places to rest your legs and grab something to eat or drink, but you can’t beat the Riverview café for its wonderful views of the Charles River.

Open daily and easily reached by the public transport, the Museum of Science is located in Science Park, just next to the Charles River. If you buy a general Exhibit Halls ticket you will get free entry to most of the live presentations, with the exception of the planetarium, 3D theatre and IMAX cinema which charge an additional entry fee. The museum is closed during major holidays.
