Farmstay in Mpumalanga

This was our 5th visit to Elephant Plains. It's the most affordable option in the Sabi Sands and an excellent place to stay. Since our 2022 visit, they have updated the rondovels. They're super comfortable with everything you need. Staff were great. They seem to have simplified the food options (an improvement) and the quality is great. We had the most amazing time at Motswari — truly unforgettable! Every moment was special. All the meals were excellent, with breakfast and dinner set in different beautiful locations each day, which kept things exciting. Our guide and tracker, Owen and George, were outstanding — incredibly knowledgeable and made sure each drive felt unique. We were lucky enough to see the Big 5 within our first two drives, and got incredibly close to the animals. Elephants and giraffes even wandered right past...

We arrived at Skukuza airport in the early afternoon… picked up by our guide it was a short 5min drive to Shalati. If you are lucky you can see the train on the bridge from the plane! Let me get this out of the way: the check in and check out process was not the best. We were ushered by an impatient staff to fill our paper work and finish lunch on arrival. We were left without hospitality on departure with numerous miscommunications by staff (eg. departure times / park ticket / exit letter...

This was out 3rd stay at Westlodge: 2014, 2019 and 2024. We keep coming back due to its quality. It's obviously under new management since our last visit. We were made to feel very welcome by the hosts. Breakfast was lovely and of good quality. If I could give 4.5 I would. I just feel the standard has slipped since our last visit. Fantastic accommodation, staff are acceptional, best stay ever in the world, highly recommend. Breakfast options devine, especially the back bacon, best in the world 🌍. Cannot fault the staff 100 percent. Thank you and I look forward to my next stay.

Excellent location, beautiful Manor, beds are so comfortable, excellent room facilities. Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite - 4 adults. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, great breakfast - plenty of selection. Thank you Vanessa.

The staff, super friendly and were happy to go out of there way and listen to your personal preference to make you stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
