"The location was as good as it gets: you can see Main Street in Lake Placid. It’s a 2-5 minute walk. Also a 2-5 minute walk to the Mirror Lake trail (2.8 mile loop). The view from the room was gorgeous. The pool was 80 degrees and the hot tub 100. The pool had a 9.5ft depth on one end and was the biggest pool we’ve seen at a hotel. The hot tub was connected to the pool and also generous sized. The gym had two treadmills, two ellipticals, two bikes, weight machine and free weights and a very nice view from large windows. The stairs and first floor was under construction when we were there and I think that is why the rooms were only $200/night in early June for a room with two queen beds. Free coffee and tea from 7:00-11:00 and in room coffee pot and microwave."
"John was kind enough to bring me a fan so temperature was cool at night. I saw many of the rooms that I would have preferred over mine. Great location for doing lots of exploration and very quiet, which I appreciated.
I did not care for the basement kitchen area but I used it anyway.
I booked through Expedia and found their cost high."
"Our first impression of the hotel was relatively positive. We travel a lot in Europe and liked the style and vibe of the hotel which remind us a lot of the towns in the Alps. However, the property is really outdated and needs a gut renovation, although the location is good. Specific reasons we give a poor rating:
1. The shower is terrible. It is impossible to control the temperature. It was either burning hot or freezing cold.
2. We asked the front desk to borrow an umbrella because it was pouring. Given that the hotel is supposedly a 4-star hotel, which we typically stay at, the front desk told us "they do not lend out umbrellas and suggested that we buy one from the gift shop". Ok. However we turned around and another staff member offered another guest next to us an umbrella. We were dumbfounded and honestly very irritated.
We will not recommend this hotel."
A True Rustic Cabin with Private Access to Bass Lake and Hiking Trails
6/10 Okay
"Disappointed with the location of the home, it was not on the lake, but across the street. The photos in the listing are misleading. The cabin was good, however the hot water for the shower was off and when the owner replied we could turn it on, but it leaks. The kitchen stove was electric, and the larger burner did not work. The cooking and dishware was old and not sufficient. Although I had a good time with my son's we all were disappointed with some of the accommodations. The property is not worth the cost per day due to the above items I have noted. Jose Velez"
