Upon arrival we were greeted by a delightful young man, turns out he's the manager's son, who invited me into the lobby and gave me the registration form to fill out. As requested, we were given a room on the second floor. The room was very clean and comfortable. The shower stall was a bit small, so if you're a larger person you might find yourself sticking to the shower curtain. The hotel is close to the freeway, but once the front window was closed you could barely hear the traffic. You can hear the train go by, though, which it did several times during the night. I loved that windows in the back of the room opened to allow for fresh air. Neither the A/C or heater were needed, so I don't know if those work. Breakfast was advertised as "continental," but there was far more than coffee and pastries. Offerings included bagels and cream cheese, bread for toast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, three kinds of cold cereal, instant oatmeal packets, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, milk, and what I always appreciate--non dairy milk, in this case almond milk. Breakfast is served in the lobby, so it's pretty tight with very little seating. There is a picnic table just outside the door, but that won't be fun in the winter. The only minor complaint is that, to me, $177 seemed a bit steep for a room in a small town in late September. Since the place isn't a chain, and probably family owned, I didn't mind too much, but it did seem a bit high.
