If you’re looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience, Casa la Paz is the place to stay. The hosts were extremely responsive. The place was really clean, and beautiful. They even leave some organic coffee to try out! If you’re looking for an incredible experience , go ahead and book Casa la Paz!
We absolutely loved it here. Beautiful view in a tucked away jungle setting. It's a bit rustic but thats part of the charm in my opinion. I would stay here again!
The cabin was great! I was very clean and very cozy, the views however, are not quite as they’re pictured due to the growth of the vegetation but they are still great!
Greeted by sweet neighboring dogs that checked on my entry and salida. Quiet only for sounds of nature. Comfy cabin! Enjoyed exploring the are- night hike did not disappoint. Fantastic stay!
Just what the doctor ordered! Peaceful, beautiful, felt part of the greater community. Host connected us with local guide and home cooked meals. The home away from home. Thank you for sharing home and community.
Casa la Paz is a quiet and rustic hideaway. Don't expect luxury, but do expect lots of birds, hidden trails and a great location. It has a steep driveway, you'll need a 4x4 to reach the house. It's about 15-20 min drive from the centre of Santa Elena and the entrance to most bosque nobuso Monteverde activities.
We loved our stay in this cozy cabin. The location was stunning although I would not recommend for someone with mobility issues as the walk up/down is steep but there are stairs. The place is rustic and there were some bugs, after all it is literally in the jungle. I thought it was charming. It is the rainy season so the trees grow quickly and thus the view was obstructed. The property manager was very attentive and answered all of our questions. Would stay here again, no doubt.
We loved staying in the woods with nature surrounding us. The cabin is rustic, but had a wonderful view, hammock, and repurposed wood throughout. The host was wonderful and gave us a great night tour on our first night!
The host was very helpful. Our party did not speak Spanish, so host played middle-man and ensured that we were able to order a delicious dinner from the neighbor.Very responsive as well.

Disliked: Check-in
It's in a beautiful location but it's very rustic. It's basically a cottage or cabin in the woods. They need to add or turn on more solar lights outside because it's down a hill and it's pitch dark at night time so it's not easy to access.
The rustic experience was not short of breathtaking views of the sunsets! The bathtub was a nice touch and the beds were way more comfortable then expected. It has all cookware we needed and the trails around the property were fun to explore. Super close to Mt Verde made it easily accessible for our cloud Forest adventure.
This place is the best for getting away. Unplug and relax and just enjoy what is there around you. Distance to santa elena and monteverde is not bad at all and easily drivable.
The decsription really appealed even the idiosyncrocies. Did not disappoint

Charming home- very steep
Veronica was lovely but in addition to the steep roadway (for which you need a 4x4) the walk into the house is also quite steep.
We also had difficulty with a ferocious dog that chased my husband. We stay3d only one of the three nights paid.

Perfect Stay, Amazing Location
Our stay was better than we could have imagined. The cottage is roomy and comfortable with everything you need – we were able to cook meals, but the town is also close enough to get supplies and go out for dinner too. The owners provided the most amazing coffee beans so you could make a perfect cup before heading out for the day. The cottage has unbelievable views and we could even see the bay right from the front window. We did a lot of bird and wildlife watching right on the property, and saw birds, a sloth and even a fox. The porch even has a porch swing with a view!! The location is great for heading to the cloud forest for hiking and bird-watching and the owners had great recommendations for guides and activities. We had a rental 4x4 so it was very easy to get around to see the sights. The owners also have a Sustainability Center down the valley and it was a great stop both coming and going. The Sustainably Center is in a beautiful area and the owners were so welcoming and knowledgeable. They run a small market on Saturdays and it was one of the highlights of our trip – fresh local food, vegetables and fruit. The cottage and owners were wonderful and we cannot wait to return.

Rustic Retreat with gorgeous views
My family of five wanted to visit MonteVerde, but prefer having more room to spread out, and places with more personality than hotel rooms. We stayed at the Casa Inspiracion house for two nights, and really enjoyed the stay. We ordered a homegrown, "Casita" meal from the neighbor (with a Flan dessert to die for), and had enough food for a couple more meals. As the only lit dwelling on a mountain jungle hillside, it will attract moths, butterflies and spiders, and a few may sneak past the screens. Our biggest issue was as Americans we didn't recognize the Costa Rican coffee maker. Perhaps the biggest joy was correspondence with the proprietor, Veronica. We received a tour of the Sustainability center, and really felt like visiting family. As of 6/16 the road to MonteVerde still has long unpaved sections to discourage tourists, though not Turismo vans, and takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the National Park Entrance from the house.

Rugged Cabin
This wasn't really what I expected.. I am able to rough it but this was quite rugged. Firstly it was extremely difficult for my spouse and I to find as the pinned location sent to us wasn't accurate. The road leading down wasn't actually very difficult our normal non 4x4 vehicle did just fine. The cabin is in a very dark area of the woods which gave it kind of an eerie feeling as the winds were also so strong. There was no view at all from the swing as it is obscured by the trees in front of it. The view is beautiful if you stand in the exact right spot in the kitchen. The hot water for the tub didn't work and I was definitely looking forward to that. The beds were quite uncomfortable with very hard pillows. For the price, this really wasn't worth it to me and we stayed elsewhere our second night.

Nice place in Monteverde
We stayed in Casa Inspiracion for three nights this past Dec. I have mixed feelings of this home. Veronica and Giselle were so sweet and so accommodating. The place was nice and quiet. We were able to visit Giselle's farm the neighbor) which was a nice bonus. The issues that we had with the location is that it was a bit further than we expected from town. In a previous review someone mentioned that they walked to Santa Elena...which would have taken long time. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if you have your own care, but we had to constantly call taxis (which was fairly easy), but we really had to plan our day so that we would keep going back and fourth to town. The house had many spiders and trancillas which we weren't prepared for. The hot water didn't work and Veronica was very accommodating and as soon as we mentioned this to her (the second day of our trip since we arrived at night) she sent someone to fix it, but it still didn't work as we would have accepted. The biggest issue that we had was the big hill that lead to the house. Since we didn't have a car, the taxi's waiting for us on the top of the hill. On our last day we had a car pick us up at 6 am (we had tour) and my husband had to carry all our luggage up a steep hill will the luggage on his head. You really do need a 4 wheeler to use their driveway. I would recommend this place if you are adventurous and have your own care. Otherwise I would pass (even though the owner is lovely).
