Centre of beautiful Monpazier with pool - One Bedroom ground floor
This ground floor apartment is one of two apartments in this elegant late 19th century house, La Maison Anglaise. Finished to a high specification in a contemporary style, this spacious apartment with its 3 meter high ceilings has one bedroom, a bathroom with twin marble basins and a walk in shower and a lounge kitchen diner. The owners have recently renovated the property and have gone to a lot of lengths to create a beautiful comfortable fully equipped apartment with a wow factor. The property boasts an outside pool which is shared by both apartments. It has a south facing terrace and stands within 50 paces from the centre of the beautiful historic 13th century bastide of Monpazier. Climb out of the pool and dry off, and within minutes you can be dining in the main square. The town listed as one of the "Plus beaux villages de France" has an abundance of shops and restaurants. The property is ideally located for visitors seeking a base for touring the Dordogne and Lot region. Monpazier is thirty minutes by car from Bergerac airport and two hours from Bordeaux. The apartment offers real comfort with a large sofa and leather arm chairs, a large luxury Super King Hypnos bed which can be converted to twins. The kitchen has been fully equiped to enable you to shop for delicious food, cook and live like the locals.
The nearby main cobbled square is home to a weekly market and an auditorium for plays, musical recitals and live concerts. The surrounding old medieval buildings are squeezed in side by side, their upper floors bathed in sunshine. Below the doorways of the shops and restaurants hide under the shaded arcaded walkways. Relax with a glass of wine or a coffee in the plaza and enjoy this quintessential French experience.
The region boasts very nice Bergerac wines and the famous Monbazillac sweet wine made from grapes affected by the noble rot. There are dozens of vineyards with very reasonably priced delicious appellations east of Bergerac airport and the vignobles are only too happy to offer you a "degustation", a generous taste of their wine.
The area surrounding the Dordogne river is dotted with stunning chateaux and pretty villages, bustling markets and great restaurants. Tour along the river in a canoe or for the less intrepid a Gabarre boat. There is so much to see and do within an hours drive of the house. In the high season the surrounding villages host evening soirees with live music to dance to while market vendors serve up local food delicacies. Turn up with your own wine plates and cutlery and enjoy a magical evening.

Beautiful Apartment
Derek and Amanda have created a wonderful place to stay in charming Monpazier. We have stayed at a number of VRBO properties and this has to rate as the best. Fantastic King size bed and very well stocked kitchen. Comfortable living area.
Lovely apartment in a great location in Monpazier. Huge comfy bed, great shower and very well equipped throughout. Lovely pool area too. I would definitely recommend this property! Everything had been thought of and supplied.
This apartment was so much more than described. Derek and Amanda’s attention to detail went above and beyond. Not only that they are delightful people who bend over backwards to make sure your stay is perfect. The welcome pack with homemade cake, wine, jam and butter is a small example of this. Everything was immaculate and the pool perfect. Monpazier is the perfect place to stay, you don’t need to get in the car if you don’t want to but there’s so much to see that it’s a shame not to. The market is great and the restaurants round the square and up the side streets offer plenty of choice. There’s also a good selection of shops so you can spend some time browsing if you want. We cannot speak highly enough of our stay. Thank you so much Amanda and Derek.

Excellent place to stay
Derrick and Amanda were wonderful host. The Apartment was well stocked with supplies and they left wine, bread, butter , milk and other food for our arrival which was a nice touch. Best of all was Derricks wonderful banana cake he baked for us. The apartment was large, comfortable , clean and well decorated. We enjoyed having some English television after 6 weeks of just French on the TV. Their pool was a bonus that we enjoyed using on hot days. Plenty of parking on street near apartment. The location was steps from the square but quiet as not on the square. Lovely apartment and very comfortable.
We would high recommend stay here. One of the best places on our trip of 6 weeks in France.

One could not ask for a more lovely rental
As so many others have written about how lovely La Maison Anglaise is, I will list all the small things that Avery and Derek have provided to their guests for their comfort.
The towels are very large...sometimes referred to as bath sheets.
The towel warmer on the bathroom wonderful for a chilly morning.
The hook where one can hang a bathrobe in the bathroom, something often overlooked in hotels.
Plenty of toilet paper provided as well as hand soap and shower gel.
The roomy armoir with plenty of hangers, the type that do not let the shirt or slacks slip off as they are a bit “fuzzy”
The shoe horn.
The extra blanket folded on the bed over the duvet.
Better than average lighting.
A very comfortable sofa and chairs.
Generous size table for eating.
We loved the French press for making coffee.
The thoughtful supply of playing cards, puzzles, dominoes and games.
A large umbrella in the stand if needed.
Everything you need for cooking meals in the kitchen.
A strong WiFi signal
Extremely comfortable furniture for relaxing around the pool.
Of the many rental properties we have stayed in, La Maison Anglaise is the very best! Thank you Derek and Avery.

Lovely accommodation in the beautiful town of Monpazier
We recently stayed at this property located in the centre of the 12th century Bastide town of Monpazier for 8 nights. Our hosts were Derek and Amanda who are from England and who with TLC have lovingly restored this 3 storey building into 2 rental floors and the 3rd being for the owners. Prior to our arrival our hosts had asked if we required any assistance and were eager to make our stay a good one. We were warmly greeted on our arrival and Amanda had put milk bread cheese, jam and a bottle of lovely red wine in the apartment for our arrival which was one of the most welcoming gestures we had encountered in our travels. Our ground floor apartment was modern, clean, had the most comfortable bed of huge proportions which made the comfort level 10 out of 10 for us. The bedroom was very large so plenty of room for cases etc. The open plan dining, lounge and kitchen was fantastic, truly a place to relax and do as much or as little as you wished. All towels, kitchen utensils etc included in the apartment and lots of space to relax. Although the weather was not kind to us the outside pool area was always clean and inviting. Our hosts were on site but not intrusive but very obligining if we were in need of anything. The property is superbly located in the centre of this pretty village and just a few metres to the truly magnificent boulangerie with croissants to die for. There are 2 small supermarkets, butchers, a number of restaurants and some lovely shops if you need some retail therapy. Located just near the cental square where a meal, coffee of wine could be enjoyed in a peaceful atmosphere. Not on the main tourist route but ideally located to do day trips quite easily to some of the most beautiful towns in th Dordogne region. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return again. ( Just a point for the owners and in no way a negative, but more pieces of crockery and cutlery would be helpful and the addition of a small washing machine under the bathroom bench would be of great help for long stays).
This immaculate apartment was perfect for two people in a good location for the medieval town of Monpazier. All the restaurants, cafes and shops within a 5 minute walk.
Monpazier is full of history and has a wonderful square, with lots of the interesting shops under the arches.
Derek was a very generous and helpful host.. Everything needed was thought of in the apartment, even a shoe horn and umbrella in the event of rain!!
It all made our short stay really enjoyable, and an excellent choice.

Beautiful Apartment
Monpazier is a lovely setting, a village we love and have visited many times. This time we stayed at La Maison Anglaise for the first time. The comfort and quality of the apartment is superior, and we would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Derek was helpful, and he and Amanda have published a helpful guide for their guests, with market days and special events listed. Very thoughtful hosts. Thank you Amanda and Derek.

Excellent accommodation
A really excellent apartment in the beautiful village of Monpazier. The apartment was really well finished with everything you could wish for to make your stay enjoyable. The outside pool area was lovely, the pool nice and clean and the patio area very welcoming. Derek and Amanda were great hosts very helpful, even booking us a restaurant for our first night as they knew we would be unable to pick up food on a Sunday. This area of the Dordogne is beautiful with lovely villages, chateau, wineries and markets. I would highly recommend you to stay at this apartment.

Fabulous apartment, pool and great hosts!
We loved the apartment which was lovely and cool on I'm sure the hottest days of the year and cooling off at the beautiful and relaxing pool area was fabulous! Every need was catered to and the hosts were great for all our questions. The apartments had everything we could need including a very appreciated welcome pack! Thank you! We had a fabulous weekend and hope to return.....
We stayed at this apartment for two weeks in July and we could not have asked for a better experience. The apartment is tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. The bed is excellent! Derek and Mandy go the extra mile to ensure their guests are well cared for and attend to every detail. The shared pool is a lovely place to relax at the end of the day and we ate most of our meals at the table outside. Montpazier has a great deal to offer and the surrounding area is interesting to explore. Castles, canoeing on the Dordonge, wineries, caves and interesting markets abound. We also took some lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. As an experienced traveler, we would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation - it is one of the best we have stayed in!

Comfortable, well equipped and in an excellent position in the village.
We have previously stayed close to Monpazier for a family holiday. This time we wanted to see more of the village itself and we were not disappointed. The flat was very comfortable and well equipped and provided all the facilities that anyone could want. Amanda and Derek were extremely helpful and always ready to help.
