Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Milhars?
The best area to stay in Milhars is within the village itself or the immediate surrounding countryside, offering a tranquil base for exploring the region.

Milhars is a small, historic village located in the Aveyron Valley. The village centre is compact, with a few local shops, a church, and traditional stone houses. It's a place where you can experience the pace of rural French life, with the River Aveyron flowing nearby.

For couples seeking a peaceful escape, staying in a gĆ®te or a chambre d'hĆ“tes within Milhars or just outside the village provides a wonderful opportunity for relaxation. You'll be close enough to walk to the village amenities, enjoy local produce, and perhaps explore the nearby ChĆ¢teau de Milhars. The quiet surroundings are great for unwinding.

Families often find the countryside around Milhars ideal. Many gƮtes offer more space, often with gardens or even private pools, which are great for children. It provides a good base for day trips to nearby attractions like the medieval village of Cordes-sur-Ciel or canoeing on the Aveyron.
When is the best time to go to Milhars?
The best time to visit Milhars is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

May and June offer warm, sunny days superb for exploring the countryside and enjoying outdoor activities without the peak summer heat. The local flora is in full bloom, making for particularly scenic walks and drives. It's an ideal time for couples looking for a romantic getaway, with opportunities to visit local vineyards and enjoy al fresco dining.

September and October bring comfortable temperatures and the beauty of the autumn colours. This period is often quieter than the summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience. It's also harvest season in the local vineyards, offering unique opportunities to experience regional traditions.
