Our stay was for our anniversary, my birthday and Valentines day combined. What an amazing experience we had. First of all Emelia and Karen were amazing with our booking and directions as well as tips on where to dine.
The atmosphere when we entered the cottage was awesome. Greeted by nature sounds and scents. Gorgeous hardwood floors and spotlessly clean rooms we could not have been happier.
A huge four poster bed and double spa room was to die for.
They truly have thought of everything and we have vowed to go back yearly. Highly recommended for couples.
This was a good value for a nice clean room. The staff person w waa s also very helpful.

We have stayed in many hotels around the world and I have never been negative about any of them. You get what you pay for and we always take that into account.
This place however was a huge disappointment considering the price paid.
We only booked it because of its proximity to a wedding we attended. When we arrived there were no staff, we had no idea how to access our room and there were keys that you had to know the code to before you could use them.
We rang a number but was told she no longer managed the place, rang another number, which was not answered. There had been no communication to us via txt, email etc. When finally we were rung back we were told to go back to Sassafras to checkin. The checkin place was in a shipping container with no signage and we were asked to pay a bond. At this point we had half an hour to get to the wedding.
Finally when in the tiny room in the house we noticed the glass shower in a corner of the room. Luckily the toilet had a tiny tiny room of its own. Even what should have been a lovely view was marred by what looked like a heap of rubbish!
Even the so called breakfast was not on the premises but back in the town. Luckily that was good. We were told that the place had been sold and was in transition between owners . My advice to the new owners would be to sack the current management company and do it themselves or get someone better.
We made the wedding just! Very disappointing!
We had a very enjoyable over nite stay in Forest Edge Cottage, which was a Free Upgrade from the Deluxe Spa Suite that we had booked. Everything had been thought of to make our stay as comfy as possible, even the fire was set ready to light when we arrived there. I thought it was a shame the fireplace was a bit smoky-it made the room smell of smoke (but maybe the wood was a bit damp) although it burnt quite well anyway. The bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water for the Spa and very Private bush type setting.
We would recommend Merrow Cottages to anyone who needs a quiet getaway - it was Excellent !!

So disappointed
My wife and I stayed in the deluxe spa suite for the last part of our honeymoon... to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The room smelled of smoke and as soon as we tried to light the open fire we realised why.. the wood was wet so wouldn't light properly and smoke started billowing into the room as the fire damper wouldn't stay open. The bath robes & towels didn't smell too clean, there were no organic products in the bathroom as stated, plenty of candle holders but no candles which didn't really matter anyway as there were only 2 dead matches !! .. and the list goes on . Things like kettle didn't work, fridge wasn't cold for champagne not even a bin to put rubbish in...... I must say the bed was comfortable. We paid a premium price after reading all the positive reviews and expected far more for the price. We feel we received just common motel facilities at the premium price. It seems that since the owners went overseas and put the property on the market and in the hands of agents, everything has gone downhill. The special things that make it an experience have all gone. It's a real shame as it's a beautiful property in lovely surroundings but we won't be going back.
The room was not what you see on the photos on their website. Toiletries are to be reused by all people staying there (Not small bottles for single use). No heat control in room so we had to put up with the temperature they set it for. Had to park quite a distance from the room. Photos showed a open fire in the lounge but this was not in all cottages. The shower was in the same room as the bed. No privacy at all. Would not go back there to stay again. Would not recommend to our family or friends either.
