"My only criticism is that they did not allow me to eat dinner in my room. My main criticism however is of Hotels.com. I booked a room in this hotel which I had to cancel and rebook for a later date . I thought I had cancelled on the Hotels.com website but it evidently did not work. I checked my booking for the new date which showed 4 nights not 1 so I telephoned Hotels.com. The person I spoke to kept talking over me and sounded like an AI and still could not arrange a refund for the cancelled night. The hotel waived some of their charge as I came up as a “no show” so they were as helpful as they could be unlike Hotels.com"

Old Hall Hotel

"The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren with creaking floorboards, reflecting the age of the property, but the room was well-appointed with traditional furniture in the bedroom and bathroom. The location is great for visitors to the Opera House and the various events in Pavilion Gardens, and only a few minutes' walk from the railway station. The staff were friendly, and there was a good selection of food at breakfast. I would be happy to stay at the hotel again when visiting Buxton."

"First impressions were very good. We were helped to check in straight away, given details of the layout of the hotel and breakfast times etc. The breakfast was very varied with cooked or continental breakfast items available. We had an accessability room which was very clean with a small kitchen area and excellent bathroom with a wet room. All in all a very nice mid range hotel."
