Gulliver's Resort Matlock Bath
Room was very warm but geared towards a family with double room and bunk bed. Staff were all friendly. The down side was very little light in the room, just a skylight. Also, no views. Other rooms may have better light and views though. Price for my room was very reasonable

Painter`s Cottage, a charming cottage in historic Town of Matlock Bath
The road up is definitely steep. And hard to park. But its a great location. Close to the cable cars. The house is kind of oddly decorated but was clean and loved the view from the table outside in the morning.
