"The check in staff were friendly and the hotel is ideally situated near to cathedral and town Parking is available but not many spaces and very tight to manoeuvre The hotel was full when we stayed and this definitely had an impact as breakfast was very slow and we had to wait sometime to order hot food The room was extremely small even for a standard room and unfortunately the bedside cabinet was covered in dust which I assume meant the room hadn’t been used recently and not checked The second room we booked for family was also dusty and had dirty cups I did expect better"

"I have thought long and hard about leaving a review for this stay. I believe if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. However i can say something nice so i will continue. Our arrival/first impression was very poor. The 'lady' who greeted us was rude,blunt and unwelcoming . The Hotel should check who was on duty on Monday 11th May at 4pm. I would advise they are sent on a hospitality refresher course. We weren't shown to our room, just told where it was. When i entered the room i cried it was dark,dingy and dated. We don't mind dated, this is an historic old building but it looked very 'unloved'. We would have addressed these issues but didn't feel able to due to the reception we had. Laterly in our stay we found other staff to be polite, and friendly. The barman and kitchen staff were lovely. My husband had a cooked full English breakfast which he said was really good. The door to our bathroom was really grubby with dirty fingerprints. The large shower head was dirty,i didn't shower because of this. On the morning of our departure we were given a continental breakfast which we took away with us. "
