"Clean rooms, basic bedding, kitchen utensils underdone (no paring knife, no potato peeler), kettle slow and very noisy."

"Disappointing. While the hotel is in the process of being extended and refurbished, that did not include the room we stayed in which although spacious and clean was in need of an update. The hanging space and vanity were tiny, especially for such a large room. Eating out options at American River for dinner are extremely limited. Dinner at the hotel was expensive and service not to standard. While the staff were unfailingly polite, helpful and doing their best they were under resourced for the workload. Apparently, a tour bus group had checked in for that night. "

"The house is in a beautiful quiet spot close to the river. There are two outdoor sitting areas, so you’re always sheltered from the wind. The home is cosy and has everything you need plus some thoughtful extras. The communication and access was easy and straight forward. We had a wonderful stay! "

"Comfortable and spacious. Very quiet and peaceful. Handy for the beach. 10 minutes from the ferry. Perfect!"

"We live in hotels now and we can honestly say that this is one of the nicest places we've stayed in this entire year. Loved the architecturally designed space, great views of the sea, and the proximity of native wildlife. It was quiet and relaxing to stay here. The host was attentive without being obtrusive and gave us several suggestions about where to eat and what to see. Highest of recommendations -- a real jewel."

"Spa not in use but would not have used it anyway. The Kitchen utensils and draws were dirty, the Dishwasher was still full of previous occupants dishes and cupboards and drawers were cluttered and untidy. We cleaned and tidied the above on arrival. The outdoor setting was filthy we also had to clean before using. Overall the house needs a bit of TLC. I did contact the host and was told this was not part of the cleaners responsibilities."
