About this property

Green Castle cabin on the Shenandoah River





  • Nestled into a hill on the banks of the Shenandoah River, this cabin was purpose-built for river-side holidays. You can relax and chat with friends on the screened-in porch or roast marshmallows around the nearby fire pit while listening to the river in the background. Stacked, dried firewood is available for you to use for a small fee. Inside, you'll find a fully-equipped kitchen that flows into the dining area and living room complete with satellite and cable TV and a gas fireplace. From the cosy living area, you have a wonderful view of the yard and river through the beautiful window wall. Rest up from a day of enjoying the great outdoors in one of the three comfortable bedrooms or in a chair on the large deck overlooking the river. The cabin also features wood flooring and trim, a cathedral ceiling in the living area, and tile floors in the modern, fully-furnished bathrooms. Outside, there's a gas grill for grilling hamburgers, a huge open yard, and - did we mention? - the riverbank so you can wade right out or take the canoes out with ease.

    PLEASE NOTE: The optional firewood charge of $15/night is for firewood for the outdoor fire pit. (The indoor fireplace at this property is gas.) If you don't think you will use the firewood or would like to bring your own, please let us know! We are more than happy to refund that to you.



    Also, please note: No parties, events, or gatherings of guests that are not included in the reservation are allowed at Green Castle.



    The base rate includes 4 people. Additional guests are extra, please read the itemized charges carefully and make sure to make your reservation for the correct number of guests that will be staying. Thank you!



    Pet Fee: $100 per dog ( max 2 dogs) - No Cats, sorry!



    Please take your trash with you. There is dumpster access at the Shenandoah River Outfitters (less than a mile from the property). The house manager can take them for a tip of $5 per bag, if you would prefer.



    There is a separate security deposit required for this property. Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions about it- we are happy to answer them!

It was a nice comfy cabin and met all our needs. Unfortunately the nearby trail was blocked by a fallen tree but everything else was wonderful. It could be easier to get to the river.

Excellent stay on the Shenandoah River South Fork

This cabin is prime real estate for floating the south fork on Luray. There is a public boat launch 8 miles up the road where you launch, and then float one of the best parts of the Shenandoah River back to the cabin. It is very beautiful here!!

We had an excellent stay at Green Castle cabin for a long weekend. The home was clean, check-in and check-out was smooth and we appreciated the amenities (Black Stone, hot tub, fire pit and available fire wood.) Wonderful view and our golden retrievers enjoyed the stay as well.

Great stay!!

This house was the perfect spot for a long getaway with friends! The open floor plan on the first floor is great for hanging out and the views are perfect with the windows surrounding it! I would definitely stay here again.

Relaxing on the river

Such a sweet cabin in the woods. My family and I had an amazing weekend relaxing in the river during the day and spending quality time together around the campfire in the evenings. Our dogs loved the getaway as well.

Great place to stay. Quiet, relaxing long weekend by the river. A few insects in the porch enclosure, but to be expected at this time of year. Cabin clean and tidy. Booking process worked really well. Would love to come back :)

Beautiful!

Waking up to enjoy coffee, looking out the windows at the river, was positively tranquil. This was our first real time out of the house amidst the Covid19 quarantine and we couldn’t have picked a more peaceful location. The house is tucked away but close enough to enjoy an afternoon in town. Thanks for a great getaway at one of our favorite places to visit!

Wonderful Stay on the River

As a group of two couples, this was our second visit to Green Castle hosted by Shenandoah Rentals. They did a wonderful job communicating with us for arrival and departure; Laura and her team were especially helpful moving a kayak to the property for our use. We enjoyed the open space on the first floor for cooking and meals. The deck facing the South Fork of the Shenandoah River provided us with beautiful and peaceful views of the river. The hot tub was especially relaxing after kayaking on the river. We plan to be back next year!

Amazing

The property was perfect. Amazing views and right on the river. Very clean and very well equipped. We enjoyed it so much we already booked the cabin again. The Shenandoah team is also very responsive to your questions which I appreciated. I really have no complaints other than I wish we had stayed longer. Thank you for allowing us to stay in this gorgeous cabin.
