Are you ready to relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air in privacy?

Every now and then, go away, and have a little relaxation, for when you return to your work, your judgment will be surer.

Located on 5 acres of gorgeous hillside, you will have plenty of space to explore and enjoy the fresh mountain air in privacy. Get ready to take in clear night skies full of brilliant constellations from the patio or the swing in the front yard, whether it's a cold winter night or a fresh summer evening.

The Southern Comfort Cabin is fully equipped to be your home away from home. The kitchen is furnished with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and various small appliances, and of course, all you need for coffee each morning. Enjoy your meals together around the dining room table, or take them to the patio for an epic barbecue with a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

After hiking Kennedy Peak Trailhead or enjoying a horseback ride in the Shenandoah Valley, decamp to the family room for a movie night. This comfy room includes a flat-screen TV with streaming access/WiFi, a Pac-Man machine, an electric fireplace, and a variety of board games.

If you need more adventures, canoe rentals, fishing, boating, tubing, golfing, and many more outdoor activities, including our private river lot, are all in close proximity.

Back at the cabin, pour some hot cocoa, and gather around the picnic table by the outdoor fireplace, looking at the expansive landscape.

With 2 bedrooms and one full bath, there is plenty of space for everyone to keep up with daily routines before enjoying multiple trails, a trip to the Shenandoah National Park, or the Luray Caverns.

For special occasions, such as vacations, birthdays, honeymoons, anniversaries, etc., upon request, we will make a rustic sign to hang in front of an old cabin (1947) located on the property so you can capture these special moments that last a lifetime.

  • The beautiful tiger at the Luray Rescue Zoo. This zoo holds animals that are unable to be cared for any more or should never have become House pets to begin with. The man that owns the place was born and raised in an animal loving family and his respect and love for the animals show through his interactions and knowledge. You can schedule a behind the scenes tour of the zoo if you call ahead. During this tour I was able to pet a porcupine, feeds goats, feed bananas to a lemur, and feed the tiger pictured. The cabin is really cute and was perfect for my needs. The area is beautiful. My only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub. But the outside fireplace was fabulous.

The house is spacious, quiet, and clean. Jan was very helpful. We loved the mountain view when sitting on the couch in the living room and looking out through the windows. We enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back if we visit Shenandoah again!

Family hiking and biking destination

This was an ideal location for mountain hiking and biking with plenty of options for family fun and relaxation afterwards, including a game room as well as a front deck and living room offering spectacular views of the Shenandoah Mountains.

Gorgeous view of the mountains. Very quiet and just the right distance from town (about 10 minutes). Weather wasn’t very good for our stay but we enjoyed the caverns.

This cabin was perfect for us--close enough to Luray & the park but with wonderful solitude. The hot tub was fantastic! Jan was quick to respond when the BBQ didn't work & got it up & running in no time.

Anniversary Mountain Getaway

Beautiful area, great host, and perfect house! We were very comfortable at Southern Comfort Cabin. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and appliances, towels in the bathroom and a fantastic game room downstairs - it was exactly what we hoped for. Looking forward to renting again one day!

The cabin is fantastic. It had WiFi and all the pots and pans we needed. It’s close to many trails. My son loved the Ms. Pac-Man machine, pool table, and board games. I also appreciated the quick and clear communication with the property manager.

Fall Weekend

My husband stayed for two nights. We came to hike in Shenandoah, and the house was a great location to visit trails in the northern and central sections of the park. The house had everything we needed, and the view from the front was incredible. We enjoyed the sunrise.

Our stay at Southern Comfort more than exceeded expectations. I had planned a quick SNP getaway for my children for their birthdays and staying here was as much a part of the itinerary as exploring the park and Luray Caverns. The kids had a wonderful time exploring the woods, playing Ms. PacMan (me, too!), playing on the swing set and of course roasting marshmallows. Upon arrival, Jan had set out a "Happy Birthday" sign to help us celebrate. The cabin was warm, inviting, and clean. The view of the Blue Ridge Mountains was a stunning way to begin and end each day. Jan was very responsive for every message I sent her andnever made me feel like a bother! The kids are already asking when we can come back again and since there is still so much more to explore, I think it's highly likely we will! Honestly, the generosity and hospitality of Jan cannot be matched - thank you so much for a wonderful birthday weekend!

Amazing views in a fabulous vacation home

From the first moment we pulled up the driveway we knew this place would be amazing. Tons of activities left for us to do (board games, Ms. Pac Man, pool table, croquet), beautiful mountain views, and a quick trip to Luray caverns and the national park. Would come back to this same property again in the future. If you are staying during a full moon make sure to watch it rise over the mountains in the distance! 10/10 would stay again.

House in Mountains

This is a great property. Quiet and secluded where you can sit back and relax and forget about your troubles. Close to stores and anything else you need, but off the main road which is great. House was clean and well done, we enjoyed the outdoor fireplace and sitting outside during the evening hours on the swing. It was a great time and no one wanted to leave. Hosts were easy to communicate with and very responsive to any questions we have prior to and during the trip. Highly recommend this location for a family getaway

A place to unwind.

My husband and I along with our 2 corgis came out for a few days to mainly see Luray Caverns and recharge. That is exactly what we did. This cabin had everything you need for an amazing stay. The view from the deck is breath taking for watching sun and the moon come up. Just 2 miles up the road is an overlook that you can see the whole valley below for miles all around. We loved it so much we hated to leave. We will be back. The area is so lovely as well and everyone we met was wonderful.

Quick get away with the Fam

The place was exactly what we were looking for as a 3 day get away in the Valley. Place was extremely clean when we arrived and was as described. The view of the valley and mountains was great and the sunrise on the first morning was fantastic. Plenty of games and things to do inside as well as outside if you're just hanging around the cabin. Ms Pacman was a hit and my daughter had a blast playing pool for the first time.The old cabin at the end of the driveway is really cool and worth a visit for a walk back in time. We did not make it to the private river lot on this trip. Maybe the next one. Jan was an absolute wonderful host. Communication was great and quick.

Mountain Getaway

We planned a quick 3 night get away to the mountains. My husband, two boys and I. This home was perfect, it was secluded just enough but still only 10 mins from town. House was very clean, comfortable, had everything you need in the kitchen. Kids loved the basement filled with the tv, games, arcade game and pool table. House was filled with lots of things to do. The outside fire pit was nice, there was also a picnic table and large swing. There was a children’s swing set as well. Plenty of yard space for the kids to run around. Plenty of seating on both upper/lower deck/patio. The view from the top deck is breathtaking and absolutely loved it, it was exactly what I was looking for. The hosts were very great to communicate with and made sure we got settled in and didn’t need anything. Definitely have to come back again.
