The tranquility overlooking the valley from the terrace, the restaurant and the pool. Gorgeous Tuscan setting. Lovely old nunnery buildings. Be aware that the menu is limited and does not change day-to-day. Otherwise wonderful.

The place was so beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. The property and the views were breath taking. I definitely recommend staying here. If we are ever back in this area we would stay here again.

The location and views of the Villa Volpi are breath-taking. If you are looking for a quiet place to recharge this is the one. The pool was well maintained and the kids loved it. The room was very spacious and clean, but some upkeep is needed. The shower is wood panelled and the wood was all mouldy in the corners. Most light bulbs in the property were not working and would need changing. This was particularly annoying in the bathroom, where only 1 of 4 lights was operational. The big downfall of this property however is the host and the restaurant, and please bear in mind this is a 4-star hotel. The host is a bit of a hit and miss. One day they were chatty and friendly, the other day they barely noticed or greeted you. The waitresses in the restaurant were lovely and tried very hard, but an obvious lack of training made communication and service at times chaotic. What really spoiled our experience however was the restaurant. As the hotel is somewhat remotely located (20 minutes car drive to Lucca), you are likely to eat in the hotel. The menu did not change in 4 days, and as there is only a limited amount of choice, it very quickly becomes repetitive. The food was OK, but not 4-star worthy. I had the impression that many dishes were heated in the microwave and given how soggy the potatoes and pasta was, I seriously doubt they were freshly prepared on the day. In addition the prices are astronomical to the degree that it is comical for what plates you are served.

In dire need of more staff!

A wonderful scenery but not worth the money considering that it’s run by one man who acts as chef, receptionist, bartender and waiter meaning that it’s nearly impossible to track him down and get service. Genuinely sad as the location is a gem.

Hotel with no skilled kitchen personnel.

The idea of having a nice get away night in hills surrounding wine ranks was ruined by a poor kitchen and a terrible sleeping couch. The sleeping couch had no comfort. A top madras could have helped. There is only one kitchen up the hills, the one at the hotel. We noticed that the price for the main course was low, and the reason is that you are served half a meal, not a complete plate. Every one of the plates served was missing an important details. It was clear that the kitchen had no skilled personnel. The feeling of being isolated and reliant on the hotel made this stay a less positive experience 😔

If you want to pay too much for nothing but a view

4 star hotel is a huge exaggeration to put it mildly. The pool area and the view is what saves the place from being an utter tragedy. Everything, with regards to the service, restaurant, management, staffing was below acceptable. There is no staff, besides the gardener and poor ladies+ manager wife cleaning and none of them were trusted to help with catering for the guests- except when it came down looking for the one man band “running” the place/the manager. That is what all of us were doing when wanting service, food,drinks.. looking for the manager. Basically we payed waaay too much money to stay at a place which felt like “Fawlty Towers” (Pang i Bygget) with the character Manuel was running it. I would understand the pricing on food, drinks, coffee had it been an exclusive venue, there at least I get to see in the menu that a Coke is 8 Euros or a coffee 5 Euros. Hell, I would even understand it! I fail to do so in this case, I feel genuinely cheated.

Fantastisk utsikt, och vackert läge. Maten i restaurangen var dock dyr och det minst aptitliga vi ätit i Italien. Mögel i duschen, kackerlackor på rummet inte riktigt vad man hade förväntat sig. Poolen kändes ren och fräsh.

Wir geben eine zweigeteilte Rückmeldung : das Hotel, das Zimmer, in einem extra Häuschen, der Pool waren einfach wunderbar. Wir hatten einen unkomplizierten Check-in, sogar eine Ladesäule fürs Auto. Wir hatten ein separates Zimmer mit einem großzügigem Bad und der wunderbaren Gelegenheit vor unserer Zimmertür unter den Olivenbäumen zu sitzen. Abends, in himmlischer Ruhe. Das Ganze zu einem wirklichen fairen Preis. Leider ergab sich im Restaurant ein völlig anderes Bild: enttäuschendes Essen, überhöhte Preise und ein Service, der schon slapstick Qualität hatte. Die in anderen Kommentaren bereits erwähnten 5 euro coperto sind nicht nur daher zu viel. Es wurde abgerundet durch einen der schlechtesten Cappuccino beim Frühstück , den wir bisher in Italien hatten. Für das Hotel allerdings gilt, wir kommen sehr gern wieder.

Meraviglioso il contesto, ma per quanto riguarda i servizi praticamente scarsissimi, le camere per il prezzo che costano sono assai vetuste. Lasciamo poi perdere la colazione, cibi davvero scarsi e macchinette per il caffè che sono da scordate. Vi assicuro che non sono una persona difficile, ma a parte la posizione e la vista tutto il resto non ne vale assolutamente la pena.

Fantastisk udsigt men ringe hotel

Fantastisk udsigt - ellers ikke noget at råbe hurra for! Uoplagt vært, syrlig lugt på værelserne, dårligt isoleret så vi kunne høre naboen snorke sig igennem natten. Piv ringe morgenmad - nul stjerner! Steder har potientiale men trænger til et løft.
