Join the roaring match-day crowds at the historic home to the Liverpool Football Club, widely regarded as a holy site for many Liverpool residents.

If you ask Liverpudlians what the most important place in the city is, many will answer with Anfield Road Stadium. Liverpool is passionate about soccer and the heart of this passion lies in Anfield Road. The stadium was built in 1884 and eight years later became the home to the newly formed Liverpool Football Club. The stadium underwent several renovations throughout the 20th century and is now the perfect destination for experiencing the energy of Liverpool fans at a home match.

To discover the history of the stadium and its home side, head to the museum on a quiet day. Learn about significant moments in the stadium and Liverpool Football Club timeline and see photographs, videos and some memorabilia from the late 19th century. Purchase your own cap or flag from the official LFC store, located outside the museum.

If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to a match, make sure you arrive early to experience the pre-match atmosphere. Nearby pubs and bars are filled with groups meeting for a beer before the game. Join in on a song or playful chant as you find your seat in the stadium. Two tributes to famous former club managers can be seen around the stadium, as well as a statue of Bill Shankly who is widely regarded as one of the country’s greatest managers. Paisley Gateway was named after Bob Paisley, a renowned player and manager.

When the stadium is full, you can hear the roar of 45,000 attendees. The stadium is made up of four stands but the loudest and most fanatic is Spion Kop, a steep grandstand reserved for only the most passionate football fans.

Reach Anfield Road Stadium in just a few minutes on the metro from the city centre. Parking becomes scarce quite early on match days but limited street parking is also available. The stadium is open daily. Visit the website to check the match schedule and purchase tickets.
