"Excellent property with good pub food in the restaurant let down only by the unforgiving 'hotel contract' bed."

"Breakfast finished promptly at 09:00. The bar was poor, had to take a larger back because it had gone off. No refund was offered although the barman agreed it was undrinkable! They had absolutely no Whisky in stock in the bar and only a couple of bourbons available. Executive rooms on the top (2nd) floor with no lift."

"This hotel has bags of character and is a refreshing change from the likes of Premier Inn. If you don't like creaky floors and things not being level, then this place is not for you! But if you want a warm, comfortable place to rest your head in the middle of the town with friendly staff and great food, then look no further"

"Hotel was reasonably priced for a reason. Room was spacious and comfortable but a little tired. Nice quiet location though, so had a good night sleep. Breakfast was a disappointment, best leave it at that. I would consider staying again, easy parking, good location and certainly good value for money compared to other options on this occasion. "

"I would not stay again, our double bedroom had very tired decor, peeling paint, lots of dust and cobwebs, and overlooked a flat roof/ fire escape. Seems like the room had been slapped with lots of green paint in attempts to modernise it. Not sure how the accommodation can be described as luxury. If we had been staying for more then one night I would have left early. The parking is very limited, but that is stated when booking. Staff at reception were friendly when booking in."

"Lovely 17th century building. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was amazing, room was clean and comfortable. Bed was one of the most comfortable I've been in for ages (apart from my own!). Definitely will return!"
