"We were very disappointed with the condition of the corridors and room. There was a particularly unpleasant smell in both. The staff were pleasant and checked us in efficiently . We went for breakfast about 7:30 but it looked as if it had been well picked over and croissant and other things had not been refilled. "Nice hotel in Angouleme. Had a little difficulty finding it at night since not familiar with area. Had after hours check in which went well, although gate for accessing parking area was not automatic but manual. Hotel is new in an older building, but that adds to its charm and has all the modern amenities (including A/C, which not all hotels have in the area). "A beautiful old house with just 2 bedrooms, this was a very relaxing and enjoyable one night stay on our journey from the Costa del Sol to the UK. We felt at ease with the owner (Dany?), she spoke very good English and told us why she had decided to turn what was originally her family home into a small hotel. We plan staying there on our future travels."
