The best area to stay in Le Chevallon is within the village itself or the immediate surrounding hamlets for convenience and access to local amenities.

The village of Le Chevallon is quite compact, with its main activity centred around the historic church and the few local shops and eateries. Staying here means you're within easy walking distance of everything the village offers, including the starting points for many local walking and cycling routes. The streets are generally narrow and winding, characteristic of a traditional French village.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to nature, staying slightly outside the main village in one of the nearby hamlets, such as Les Granges or La Croix, can be ideal. These areas offer more secluded accommodation options, often with larger gardens and views of the surrounding countryside, while still being a short drive or a pleasant walk from Le Chevallon's centre.

The best time to visit Le Chevallon is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and sunny, superb for outdoor activities.

During this period, the days are long, and the average temperatures range from 20°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Auvergne region. This is particularly appealing for families looking for an active holiday.

Families will find the summer months offer the best conditions for hiking and cycling along the numerous trails in the surrounding Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park. The lakes and rivers are also superb for swimming, kayaking, or paddleboarding, providing plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy the outdoors. Many local farms also offer tours and activities during this time, which is a great way to experience regional life.

Couples seeking a relaxed break will also appreciate the summer. The pleasant evenings are superb for enjoying al fresco dining at local restaurants, and many villages host traditional markets and festivals.
