As your host and hostess of "Lander Lodging" we want to make your stay with us as wonderful as possible. What we love here is: the pure taste of freedom, the vibrant smell of fresh air, deep blue sky and sunshine ~300 days of the year. We also love the wide open outdoors with it's variety of terrain offering world class: fishing, hiking, kayaking, climbing, 4-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and some of the best hunting in the U.S. We love being one with nature and enjoying proud bugling elk, majestic mule deer, roaming antelope, mischievous squirrels, and cooing pheasant. Life doesn't get any better than this!
We are located at the mouth of Sinks Canyon is named for it's unique geographical formation, where the river vanishes into a large cavern (called "The Sinks") but reappears downstream in a trout filled pool, "The Rise" about a half mile down the canyon. These trout live a life of leisure measuring upward of 26+ inches, while visitors feed them.
Within the wall of Sinks canyon are Wyoming's best: the river, fish and wildlife, the mountains, wildflowers and sage, aspen and pine, a rugged quite country under blue skies.
We have a very fun selection of restaurants in Lander, and we will be happy to make suggestions. .
The Shoshone National Forest, The Wind River Wilderness and the Red Desert provide many beautiful hiking and four wheeling opportunities.
One popular hike to the Popo Agie Falls brings you to a beautiful falls and pools, and if you persist over the granite boulders you will come to a pool with a natural rock slide that people like to use during high water.
The Loop Road is a scenic drive, with 4 wonderful lakes you can stop and enjoy. It becomes a wonderful summer playground. You can find the hidden beach or explore the remote adventures on the far side of the lake in Kayaks, the most easy to maneuver of all UN-powered watercraft. We rent our Kayaks only to our guests.
After Hunting Season, the Loop Road becomes a winter playground for Snowmobiles, Snow Bikes, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. (Wild Iris and Gannet Peak Sports rent cross country skis and snowshoes.) Here on the property we have a fabulous sledding hill and tubes which are only available to our guests.
The Museum of the West - (1.6 miles ) has done a wonderful job of restoring a lot of old buildings and artifacts.

The Rivers, Lakes and Wilderness make Lander one of the nation's best areas for fishing
Lander Golf Club is one of the highest courses in Wyoming. High-reaching peaks create a dramatic backdrop with wildlife as a audience.
Adding contrast to the beautiful mountains on the South Lander has the Red Desert on the North which showers Lander with Rich Buttes and wild landscapes providing a a "home on the range " for the largest migratory heard of antelope in the lower 48 states.
We are centrally located and the best hopping off point for many great day trips. " Enjoy your parks" has suggestion for sites to see during your visit to Wyoming and Lander is the best hopping of point for most of these: For example:
1) Wilderness travel in the Wind River Range, some of the most spectacular mountains in North America.
2) South Pass City, (42 min south)
30 historic log, frame, and stone buildings on 39 acres of land.
The Oregon, California, Mormon and Pony Express trails all
came through this area. It was also known for it's involvement
in the women's suffrage movement. Esther Morris, the
first woman just of the Peace in the US began her tenure
in February 1870
Easily in the same visit you can see Atlantic City and a Morman Handcart rescue site.

As you can see, Wyoming contains just lots of raw, rugged wild open country, or all varieties of terrain. This place is heaven for: the adventurous, children, families and grandparents. We don't however have the guides, crowds or the commercialized
packaged fun, but we can make suggestions of places to go based on your interests.
