About this property
Shiki Homes | Ikkō 10 一耕の宿 10
Wonderful location, artful interior design, and full of all the modern comforts you’d expect for a contemporary villa, Ikkō 10 is a dream machiya with endless appeal. Ikkō 10’s location is just one of its many strong points; the house is located in a tranquil setting just to the east of the Kamo River and minutes walk to the UNESCO World Heritage site Kiyomizu-dera.
With a clear Kyoto charm woven throughout the design of Ikkō 10, this two-bedroom, five-person-capacity, traditional Japanese home will ensure your time in Kyoto is unforgettable. The home’s layout has been meticulously considered to allow guests to feel a sense of flow and feel cozy and intimate, with the living quarters on the ground floor and the sleeping quarters on the second floor.
Although the house is completely independent, it’s neighboured by two similar houses, each with a slightly different appeal, Ikkō 8 and Ikkō 9. If guests prefer, these three houses can be booked together to make an ideal accommodation option for large traveling groups, like tours, study groups, and work retreats. However, they’re each completely independent and self-contained, offering the ultimate privacy. Flexible and modern but with traditional elegance, Ikkō 10 is a holiday home you won’t forget.

We loved the location of this home. We shared it with another couple and it was easy to get taxis or buses everywhere. It was clean, quiet and the bath and shower were wonderful. In sharing it with another couple however it was a bit small. One couple had to pass through the other's bedroom to access the bathroom and the rest of the house. It worked out ok because we are easy going and so are our friends, but some people might have difficulty with this. We ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa which was extremely comfortable, but a bit cramped to get out of. Overall we had a wonderful experience at the house once we moved beyond the awkwardness of walking through someone else's bedroom to access the bathroom in the middle of the night.
My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Shiki Homes. The home was clean and very comfortable. It was located in a great location for the activities and transportation we wanted to access while visiting Kyoto. We especially appreciated being tucked in the back of other buildings as it was very quiet. The communication with the owner and check in/out was super easy. We highly recommend this home for your next stay in Kyoto.
Clean and comfortable. The location was an easy bus ride from the central station (8-10 minutes). The rooms were comfortable with modern amenities. We were able to visit Kiomizu-dera, which was an easy 1/2 hour walk. The temple was beautiful (as were several other temples within walking distance).
A number of appliances did not work and then accommodation did not get back to us in a timely manner. The tax requirements were all in Japanese and yet the business dod not offer English in order to complete the form.In general, very poor communication.
