We chose the Allegro Royal Sonesta Chicago Loop based on the room description and amenities advertised, but unfortunately our stay was disappointing. We reserved a room with a king bed, yet the room we received was very small and the bed was clearly not a standard king-size bed. When we mentioned this at checkout, the front desk simply replied that the building is over 100 years old. The age of the building has nothing to do with the bed size. If the rooms don't have standard king beds, the listing should clearly say so instead of surprising guests after they arrive. We also paid for breakfast as part of our reservation, only to be told that the restaurant is closed on weekends. The staff admitted their booking platforms need to be updated. Guests should never pay for an amenity that isn't available. Another advertised amenity was a complimentary bottle of wine, but nothing was waiting in our room. We had to ask for it. Since we don't drink alcohol, we requested a non-alcoholic option. The front desk told us they didn't have one, but the bartender confirmed they did, and we eventually received it. The hotel's location is excellent, but inaccurate room descriptions, unavailable amenities, and an unhelpful response from the front desk at checkout left us very disappointed. I hope the hotel updates its listings and provides guests with accurate information so they know exactly what to expect before booking.

We loved our "upgraded" room with the beautiful view of the river, Lake Michigan and the Saturday night fireworks! This was thanks to Michael, our concierge or check-in man at the front desk. It took us a little while to figure out all the lighting but that was a small thing. The coffee at your restaurant left a little to be desired - it was not hearty enough or warm enough. The cappuccino we replaced it with was very good! All in all, a very happy experience.
