500 ft from beach! Vintage & charming OBX cottage "The Cozy Duck" 4 bd/2 ba

Welcome to "The Cozy Duck OBX", a secluded 4 bedroom 2 bath cottage in beautiful Duck surrounded by live oaks and with a ground floor outdoor shower. Wake up early and walk 500 feet straight to a direct private street beach access (only for residents and guests on this street; there is no public access) to enjoy that amazing sunrise over the ocean. Downtown Duck is less than 1 mile away, making for a quick walk or bike ride to the famous Duck Donuts, outstanding restaurants, excellent boutique shops, and enjoy the beautiful sunset on the boardwalk on the sound.

Once you enter the house you will instantly be transported to vintage OBX with the rustic charm of beautiful knotty pine paneling. The living, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are all on one level with a bonus loft upstairs. There is a TV with Roku in the living room as well as in the loft area (where there are an assortment of boardgames and children's toys). There are plenty of restaurants in Duck if you wish to avoid cooking entirely during your stay, but the kitchen is stocked for your culinary activities including pots, pans, baking sheets, flatware, glasses, a toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker (bring your k-cups or ground) and dishes. We also have 500 mbps wireless internet to keep everyone connected to school or work.

Our home offers 1 queen bed (firm), 1 full bed (soft), 2 twins and 2 sets of bunks. All updated mattresses, quilts, and linens! It is best suited for small families or groups, but our beds offer flexible sleeping arrangements. Please note the top bunks are for young children only and not adult use.

Enjoy some peace and quiet on the top deck or chill out in the shade in the porch on the main level. In the front driveway is a basketball hoop and plenty of greenspace for tossing around a football. We do have two Weber charcoal kettle grills and picnic table available as well.

We love our dog and welcome your dogs too (pet fee extra of $150). Sorry, no kitties or any other animals since our children are highly allergic to felines. We do limit to a maximum of 2 well behaved pups and ask that you try to keep them off the beds and furniture. We want our guests to enjoy the lawn, so please also scoop the poop!

Duck is one of the best dog friendly beach towns in OBX. Dogs are even allowed unleashed on the beach year-round in Duck.

This home is strictly for NONSMOKERS (vaping is also not permitted). Up to $500 fines to pay for ozone cleaning.

There is also a washer and dryer on the ground floor. We also provide a beach buggy, a tent, a shade umbrella and an assortment of beach chairs.

Please let us know if you notice anything broken or missing.

Freshly laundered linens and towels are always provided!

What's nearby

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The Cozy Duck is a very charming place! There was enough space for us as a family of six with a dog. We absolutely loved the location, just 3 minutes down the road to get to the beach and Duck is also in easy walking distance. We had a great time!

Great OBX Weekend

The property was great super clean and great for a larger group (we had 6 people). Location is perfect right next to the beach and minutes from Duck shops. Definitely recommend.

Great location!

The Cozy Duck is a quaint little cottage in the most perfect location! So close to the beach and town. It was perfect for our family of 4 and could accommodate even more. This was our first visit to Duck and we would definitely return!!

wonderful cottage, perfect location!

Visited for 7 nights with my boyfriend and dog. Quick walk to the beach and short easy walk to Duck town center. the cottage was more than we needed in size and could easily accommodate two small families. My dog enjoyed relaxing on the porch as well as the dog friendly beach!

Great place in Duck!

We had a great time at the cozy duck over Labor Day weekend! The check in/check out process was very easy. Thought it was the right amount of space for 4-6 adults to stay. Loved that we were a short walk from the beach! And if you enjoy walking a bit more, you can easily walk to shops and food in town. Overall great experience, would recommend!

Just what we needed

This was a perfect little spot for our family of 7, plus furbaby. It's not huge or fancy but had the space we needed, was clean, the kitchen was well stocked, and the location was ideal. The host was A++ in every way!

Beach fun

We loved the proximity to the beautiful, private beach. The house had plenty of room for us and having two bathrooms made things easy. The town of Duck was convenient too. We enjoyed checking out the shops. Definitely get a boil dinner and cook yourself some redfish (also called drum). It’s easy and very tasty.

Perfect family fun!

House was clean. Check-in was easy and communicated clearly. Description was accurate and helpful. We knew exactly what we needed to bring with us - helpful when traveling far and with a family. Location is perfect! Close to beach and town center - great for walking to both. Teenage kiddos loved walking into town to get smoothies or ice cream. Would highly recommend!

Great spot!

They so s a nice house with a smart layout. Very clean considering it is pet friendly. Sure some things could use a little updating but overall is in great shape and an awesome location just off the beach. Beach chairs and toys included made packing easier, the kitchen had tons of pots and dishes, way more than we have at home. Highly recommend if you're ok with a comfy home rather a modern brand new option.

Great place to relax

This is a great place to go, park the car, and not get back in it for a week. The beach is a two minute walk and the restaurants and shops in Duck a pleasant walk away. The house is comfortable with several decks and a screened-in porch. Everything in it is pretty well-worn, but it’s all comfortable. Wi-fi and smart tv worked perfectly. Duck is the most dog-friendly beach in OBX and the house is dog friendly too-the outdoor shower is perfect for washing up after the beach.

Great beach house for our family!

We enjoyed our stay at this house and I loved being able to enjoy my morning coffee on the screen porch while listening to the waves crashing. It was like being in a tree house! That said, there are a lot of stairs. Ok for us but it could be a struggle for others. I liked the bedroom and bathroom split also - my husband and I slept on one side of house while my son and his family slept on the other.

Clean, good location and great host

The property was on a great street with a very short walk to the beautiful beach and short walk into the town of Duck. Great location if you don’t want to get in your car after arriving. The host was very accommodating and responsive. The only things that weren’t top notch was the house was in desperate need of some updates and repairs. Some of the deck railing was loose, the ceiling inside was peeling and stained and the rugs, couches need a deep cleaning and the beds aren’t very comfortable. It is such a gem just needing a little refresh. Overall great stay.

Fantastic house and location

The Cozy Duck was absolutely perfect in size and location to the beach and shops. We loved that we could walk to the beach and walk or a quick car ride to the downtown shops and boardwalk. We loved Duck! The house was perfect. Often when a house indicates 2 bathrooms, one of those is for the master bedroom only. This is not the case for this house. There are 4 bedrooms and 1set of bathrooms per 2 bedrooms. I really liked how the rooms were split up on either side of the house. It created space for everyone. The house was cozy and has a great screened in porch where we enjoyed fresh steamed crab and shrimp. We would definitely stay here again!

What a week...start to finish

Family vacation... we needed to be together, but have our own space too as we all have our own lives. Cozy duck was as advertised with multiple decks, porches and rooms to make it comfortable for both. House was clean, modern, upkeep of property was obvious. Cute little plusses such as extra blankets, games and suggestion made it more comfortable. Owners absolutely amazing from start to finish. Organized, friendly and quick to answer any issues. At the end of our stay we were hit with tail end of hurricane. Susan checked in and kept us updated. Check in and out ckean and efficient. GREAT location to beach, which was clean and friendly. Town of Duck was close, amazing and low key. Had everything needed in a compact space. Highly recommend, just go !!!

Location! Location! Location!

The location of this house can not be beat! It is steps from the beach and a easy walk or bike ride from town. We rented bikes for the week and I highly recommend that. There were some maintenance issues that I brought to the owner's attention and she offered to have a handy man come in while we were there but I declined. Communication was great. The place could have been cleaner, the high touch areas were all clean, but it really needs a deep clean. There was also no dresser in one bedroom which was inconvient for a week long stay. The place is a bit worn and dated, but the main rooms are great for games, cooking and hanging out as are the many decks and screened in porch. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you may need. You will not get a better price for the location!

Great little spot!

My husband and I decided last minute to get away for a few days with our pups. This place was available and perfect for our needs! There was more than enough room for the two of us. The loft is a great hideaway spot and the deck off that room was great. My only suggestion would be a deep clean, as I had to look under the sofas for something and there were quite a few things under it that you could tell had been there for a while. With that being said, the kitchen and baths were clean and the queen bed was very comfortable.

We had a wonderful week! The location of this property was just perfect. My daughters loved walking down the road to the beach every day - a short 2 minute walk!! We were able to check in earliwe than expected, which was a very nice surprise!

Overall impression was very good! Clean, great appliances, comfortable beds and furniture. Easy check in and easy check out. We would stay at the Cozy Duck again, but I would ask that the trees next to the decks be trimmed back. We had to duck to avoid the over hanging branches going up the steps to the entrance, which didn’t feel very welcoming. The interior of the house is lovely.
