What's nearby

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze.

Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

Thank you for stopping by and for the support.

Amazing!

What an amazing house! Steps away from the beach, short walk/bike ride to town, very clean, if we had any issues the management property took care of them right away and the pool area is awesome. We would definitely stay here again and recommend!

153 Scarborough Lane

The property was very nice and accommodated our large family well. The pool was clean and was a nice place to retreat. One of our smoke alarms didn't work and we were disappointed that it took 4 calls to have it serviced. It was more than just a battery or we would have taken care of that ourselves.

Beautiful property but poor cleaning services

This property was so perfect for us and is a lovely house. However the visit got off to a terrible start due to a poor performance by the cleaning team. Our child bed had snot smeared over both of the navy blue pillow shams, the one bedroom had blood dripped down the comforter, and the one bedroom had perfume and sunscreen body oil smells on the sheets. Toilets were moldy under rims and all mirrors were a smeary mess. And don't even look under the couches or along walls at the food crumbs. We contacted the manager and she was kind enough to respond right away offering to send housekeeping back out but by that time we were all there and trying to get ready for dinner. We went to the store and bought broom/dustpan, extra laundry soap and disinfectant wipes and spent the first part of the evening cleaning. I and my three daughters got through it all and then we proceeded to have a wonderful time. We ran 4 of the rooms linens, including spreads through the wash to clean them and actually washed the blood out also. This place is wonderful, but the owner should fire the cleaners or perhaps talk to their property management about them. We spoke to neighbors and some have said they see cleaning crews leave in 15 minutes to half hour. Can't believe that's acceptable for a house this size. We did not expect pristine condition, after all it has a lot of people moving through in a short time, but I do expect clean beds to lay my head on! That being said, we loved this house........after we did their job and cleaned it.

Fun family week

We had 17 people in this 7 bedroom house; my husband and me, our 3 daughters and their husbands, our 8 grandchildren, and my mother-law. First, the positives: Each couple was able to have a bedroom and bath, my mother-in-law had her own room, and the girls together and boys together each loved having a bunk room with Jack and Jill bathroom. It was very spacious for all of us with plenty of space for all of us to eat comfortably and good seating. The location is great; just a couple minute walk to the beach, which can be seen from the balconies. The pool is nice and a good size. It is at the back of the house which is nice for privacy. We noticed many other pools were on the side of the houses which made them visible from the road and open for everyone to see in. The hot tub was nice and enjoyed by everyone. There is a nice porch swing and hammock on the middle floor balcony with a view of the ocean, which my mother-in-law loved and spent countless hours on. Overall, it has 2 nice balconies with sitting areas to enjoy as well. We had an issue with a slow drain in one bathtub and a smoke detector that needed batteries, both of which were taken care of promptly after we notified Outerbanks Blue. It had very good WiFi. We never had any issues with being able to get online with numerous devices. The negatives: The property is in need of some updates and TLC. it looks a little tired and worn. The carpets and windows could definitely use a good cleaning. Several of the shower curtains were moldy on the bottom. The sheets were not on the top bunk beds, so we had to do that. Not a big deal, but for what we paid, I would have thought that would have been done. There were televisions in the bedrooms, tiki bar, as well as the two living areas. We couldn’t get any of them to work other than the two in the living areas. Television instructions would have been helpful. Even with the negatives, over all, we had a great week with our family and really enjoyed all being together in one house.

Great location, but house not so great.

This house looked great in the online pictures, but wasn't so great in real life. For a group that's going to spend most of the time on the beach, it's probably okay. However, be forewarned that the property is not well maintained. Here are some of the problems we ran into while staying at this property: 1. We had to call the property manager (twice) because of a non-stop procession of ants in the kitchen. After two days, someone came and sprayed a chemical on the kitchen counters, which stopped the ants. 2. We found several large cockroaches on the ground floor. We're talking a good two inches in length. Yuck! 3. None of the glass doors and windows have been washed in some time. They all are covered with a film of salt and grime. 4. Molding around doors and in bedrooms is grubby. It needs to be cleared, or better, repainted. 5. The sliding doors on the side of the house on the second and third levels don't lock. They look like they're locked, but when tugged will spring open. 6. An L-shaped piece of trim at the very top of the main stairs is loose (adhesive failed). Walking over it loosens it, creating a potential fall hazard. 7. A number of light bulbs were out in the house including the one in the closet where the washer and dryer are located, which makes it extra fun to wash anything, and the car port. 8. The pool had a bunch of leaves in it when we arrived. 9. The rubber headrests in the hot tube are falling apart, which means when you rest your head against them, pieces of rubber fall into the water and swirl around you in the hot tube. 10. There were leaves and random garbage in the outdoor bar adjacent the pool. 11. There was mildew growing on plastic shower curtain in master bedroom. 12. The house has a volleyball court, but we could find no volleyball. We did, however, find other pool toys and balls in an outdoor closet, but rather than being organized on the shelves, they were tossed into the closet on the floor in such a way to prevent the door into the closet from being opened. 13. In the storage area next to the car port, there were broken pool chairs just siting there rusting. 14. Running the TV and DVD player in the great room was a frustrating game of trial-and-error. If there were directions about how to make the equipment work, they weren't anywhere near the TV and DVD player. Anyway, that’s a list I could come up with just from memory. This property is clearly a rental. If the landlord does care about a renter’s experienc

Avoid Outer Banks Blue Homes

The photos on the website were pretty accurate. However the sofa in the basement was just dirty. There was hair and lint under the sofas in the upstairs & downstairs living room which was gross. There was no vacuum or decent swiffer type mop to keep the house clean while we were there. The house overall was very damp & humid. Our shower on the main floor ran so slow we stood in dirty water while showering, that was disgusting. The washer was a wreck & it looks like the hot water heater is ready to go any time. We experienced a "Septic" backup into the lower level bathrooms and it flowed into one of the occupied bedrooms. Outer Banks Blue was horrible in handling this!!! It took several hours to get someone out to drain the tank, which it was stated it hadn't been drained in years! YUK!! A cleaning person did arrive serveral hours after we reported it to clean the 2 bathrooms that were affected. The cleaning was minimal at best. And one family had the sewage in their room for over 24 hrs!!! Outer Banks Blue stated "its after 4 p.m., its a little late to get someone out there to clean the carpet." SERIOUSLY! This was a sewage spill, not a wine spill! AND when the rug guy showed up, his van said "24/7 Service!!" OBX Blues handling of our interior sewage spill was inexcusable!! This was our first time using OBX Blue & it's definitely our last. I hope the owners, private, or otherwise are able to spruce this place up a little more. We managed to have a nice time overall, but we certainly did not deserve this and the hassle of dealing with OBX Blue.
