Lakeside Inn
8/10 Good
"The staff were very friendly and helpful but overworked as unfortunately they were understaffed and thus the restaurant and bar areas are closed Mondays and Tuesdays right now. This made finding nearby meals those days other than a food truck difficult. There is a Foodland in nearby Northbrook.
The rooms were updated and clean with basic amenities and comfortable beds. Hopefully there are plans to updated the bar and restaurant too. Great location with Bon Echo only 8 minutes away and gas station across the street. Overall we were happy with our stay 😊"
"Fantastic spot!! I went as a getaway for myself and my pup, and it was truly perfect. The cabin is nice and private, and the gazebo is perfectly placed to be in the morning sun right as it rises. Love the solar panel features for charging/fridge. The host was wonderful and super quick to respond. Will absolutely be back!"
"Took my family here for a much needed getaway for my postpartum wife. It was perfect. Having the river directly behind the cabin was amazing for the view and swimming (great fishing too), it was closer than I expected and the waterfall nearby was such a nice ambient sound. Buddy the dog was the first dog I’ve seen mine really bond with and take a liking to in years, he’s super friendly on his odd travels around the property. The back lake is very peaceful and offers great sunset views. Overall a wonderful place I’ll definitely be coming back to, it would be great any time of year!"
"Great time at Gary's. This is our second visit to the cottage. It has all the makings of a fun cottage getaway - all you need is clothes and food! The lake was divine and we had a chance to go canoeing and enjoy lots of swimming. The cottage is situated in a shady neck of woods which is great for the summer. There were less fans than last year, which are so necessary for the heat and the cottage could have used a deeper clean from past guests. Otherwise a great location and excellent host."
"The internet connection was better than last year but still needs improvement. They need a Canadian firestick for the television. We were unable to get any Canadian stations (news) even though the cottage was in Canada. The rooms were clean and the veranda was lovely to sit out at night as it was screened in so no worry about bugs.Huge diningroom table to accommodate at least 10 people if not more.Host was good at communication and was very helpful with our questions."
"Everything was really good. The hot tub was not working was was sad as I really could have used it on the last day after a long hike and swim in the lake. I would recommend the peaceful location."
