I’m sorry you were unhappy with your stay and gave us a two star review without ever letting me know about the one loose shower head and cockroaches? What exactly does the problem mean? We have the home sprayed and are located in the rural part of Kauai where you may see insects. We are not a resort which we make very clear in our listing. As for anyone reading this Moloaa is rural, and as stated we offer beautiful Grounds our home is lovely and may have a loose screen or two which we adjust when notified. I am happy to call our pest service to revisit if any pests are seen but must be notified with any problems. I never was in this case so had no Chance to remedy anything.

I'll start my response to this by giving all the information since we had a continuous text going back and forth during your stay. The text that I received from you about the garbage can outside on Sunday, the day of your arrival was responded to you by me telling you that I would have our cleaners come and take the few extra bags and place them in a different can even though the problem would have been resolved in less than 24 hours as trash day was the next morning at 5am. I was more than happy to have the small amount of extra trash that was in a sack on the ground put in a different can. You replied that it was not a problem and you simply stacked it high inside the can so the top was open. I had my cleaner come and remove it so that the garbage man would empty the can less than 24 hours later. Your responded by saying thank you and only then made me aware that you were allergic to dust and that the bedroom had some "dust bunnies" under the furniture to which I replied I would immediately have my cleaner come and sweep under the beds and do WHATEVER else you felt was less than acceptable. You told me you would ask your family if the concern was a big enough issue and get back with me. My cleaner was on standby for 7 days with no word from you as to having them come. This does not seem quite like the issue you made it out to be in my review. Finally when you did reply with a message on Sat Dec 10th the day before you checked out that "you did not feel comfortable with them coming" to address the problem you "did some vacuuming in the rooms" I never heard another word other than you were leaving some food in the fridge and some items that you did not use. You then responded with "We kindly hope that you will remember this when considering the deposit. Thank you again ,Mahalo" (The cleaning fees are not a profit they are what is charged to me and for the size of home a fair amount) Does not seem like your stay was not enjoyed by the many things you mentioned as it was your choice to not have them addressed. Not until your cleaning fee was not reimbursed as you thought you deserved did you add the other many things mentioned in your review. I take great care in those who choose to stay at Woodrose. I respond in a very timely manner and do everything I can to make a stay great. If there is a problem I look to fix it as I did with you. I hope that as others read this they will see both sides of this 2 star review and take that into account .

Thank you for your review. Woodrose Plantation is a very unique home as it is on over a 2 acre piece of property. We are different as you stated in your review than a condo or a resort. We are not in competition with them as our number one goal is to provide a home, a space, a place of peace where the chickens roam and sometimes a wild boar or two eat the fruit that has fallen. We are different because the trees planted are 25 plus years old which is why they are plentiful when in season. We don't use sprays on them, we want them organic and free from pesticides. This is a family home built by by my dad where we hope people will find relaxation which we are happy you had. The extra space was yes, an add on because we now have 4 generations all wanting to be home:) The cost to own this home is far above the price that we charge our tenants but we are able to do so because we built it by hand over 30 years ago. If you were to build this home today on the size of our property the cost per night would be much higher just to break even. We are on an island as you know and costs are so much higher in everything. Cleaning fees, power, yard maintenance etc etc. That is the price for a stay in paradise. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the toys the towels the chairs the rural location and were able to relax in our home. We are constantly doing upkeep as it is a home that is rented very frequently and I personally do everything I can to keep our peace of heaven a place where others feel what the old Kauai once was.

I am happy that many of you enjoyed our home by staying the entire time. I do wish you would have communicated any concerns to me and I would have addressed them as soon as possible during your stay. Since becoming aware after the review we have replaced all three ceiling fans in the front room. Replaced the floor fan, replaced the chair, the shower curtains, and the faucet. We are unsure of what stain you saw on the couch and could not see what you were talking about. Like most homes in Kauai, our home has fans and jalousies for airflow. We don't advertise a/c and there are beautiful still hot days from time to time but for the large part of the year, we have ample airflow. As far as the beehive, we have contacted someone to remove the hive rather than kill the bees as we know that they are needed to pollinate. They chose their home on the back of the house out of the way from guests and we are awaiting their safe removal as soon as bee removers can come. (currently off island) I will continue to do my best to communicate immediately with any of our guest's concerns.

I am very sorry for the problems you seem to have had. I have asked the cleaners why there was no soap left (there is supposed to be soap but we do not provide shampoo.) I was unaware the hairdryer was missing as well someone must have taken it. I will replace this now that I am aware. This is the first I have heard. I apologize for the hot water issues. Being on a small island it is not easy to get things fixed as soon as I would like. Getting a plumber is nearly impossible even for emergencies I had my 80-year-old father come within hours of hearing of the water issue. He ended up changing the heating element and the timer. Unfortunately figuring out the problem took longer than your stay. I work very hard to resolve issues as soon as I am aware. Like at home some things just take longer than we would like. As you can see from our reviews your stay is important to us. I appreciate you letting me know and will continue to do my best to resolve problems as I become aware of them.
