This house was simply sublime. One of the nicest places weve stayed. Great location. We will definitely return. Great for a family with young children. We loved the pool table. Perfect for self catering.
Well equipped cottage, with fantastic sized master bedroom. Pool table was a great addition

What a find
We had a fabulous short break at Mill house. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and in a great location. It was lovely to come home to this beautiful warm house after autumnal walks. We loved the pool table and relaxing in the kitchen diner. Close to 2 pubs and the village shop/tearoom where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be back.

Wonderful
One of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in. We felt at home at home as soon as we walked through the door. Great location for walking from the door step. We loved it so much we have booked again for March 2026.

Beautiful property in a wonderful location
A family member had recommended this property and we were not disappointed. A lovely house with a large kitchen diner with great views over he hills. A nice sunny garden with a stream across the road is a great place to sit for a morning coffee. Private parking is a plus.
The village is charming and the house is only a few yards from two pubs, a restaurant, the village store/tearoom and a cafe. Keswick is only a few minutes away by car.
The booking and instructions were easy and the only difficulty was some confusion over bin collections, which was swiftly resolved over the phone by the staff cat the office.
We plan to return next year.

Mill House - historic charm and so restful in peaceful Braithwaite
We are so pleased that we managed to find the beautiful Mill House. As a family we had a fabulous time in this lovely house which was perfect in every way. The house was spotlessly clean in every room with comfortable beds, quality linen, tasteful soft furnishings and a very large kitchen area with ample space for dining. There was so much attention to making the experience home from home and beyond, including the starter packs and the excellent communications and advice from Keswick Cottages.
The views were idyllic - from the kitchen window we could see Skiddaw and in the evening the sun shone through the large windows. We frequented the local pubs and the restaurant and had a warm welcome everywhere with great cuisine and well stocked bars.
We will definitely be returning to Mill House and have great memories. Thank you.

Fabulous holiday home from home
We were delighted upon arrival at Mill House, which is presented to a high standard and is well equipped. Everything was brand new - kitchen, kitchen equipment, carpets, bedding, towels. Thoughtful touches such as a range of books for local walks (lakes, hills ridges, coffee shops) and starter kitchen packs for coffee, tea and cleaning.
There weren’t any photos of the games room so it was a very nice surprise to have a pool / table tennis table as well as a range of games and books.
Location was ideal for walks from the door. The Coledale Inn (dog friendly) is a one minute walk and serves good pub with a choice of ales and wines. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch there. Jaspers Cafe (also dog friendly) is also worth a visit for a tasty breakfast with friendly service.
The Keswick Cottages App was also really helpful with all the information we needed.

I cannot remember enjoying a self catering property so much
What a perfect experience. Quietly located (no traffic noise) in lovely Braithwaite with 2 of the bedrooms looking out over the adjacent pretty stream . The whole house is light and airy and there are effectively 2 places where you can chill out in the evenings - the traditional cosy lounge but also a large sitting and dining area adjacent to the kitchen which I particularly liked as it was so bright during the day. The kitchen is well equipped although I did struggle a bit with the induction cooker . I had to look up instructions online - it would have been nice to get a short hard copy of how it operates. well equipped laundry room. Bedrooms light and airy and very comfy beds. Short walk to 2 pubs and a restaurant or two. There was only one niggle - the sink in the en suite is so tiny you absolutely cannot wash in it (although the shower is lovely) and I had to wash in the main bathroom. I think this would be a problem if 6 people were in occupation. Otherwise . It really was perfect and I cannot remember staying in better holiday accommodation. - shame about the dreadful weather all week though!
