We had a great stay at Rowan House.
We had a great stay at Rowan House. Really well equipped and comfortable, especially the beds. My husband couldn't sit on the sofas as they are soft and he has back trouble but probably fine if your backs good. Owners were very helpful when the fire was blocked and the central heating was so good it made up for the lack of the fire. The dark sky at night was possibly the best we've seen for star gazing. We were so happy with the place we didn't want to leave so we will definitely come back.

A lovely spacious, comfortable, cosy house set in a lovely village with superb walking opportunities
A lovely spacious, comfortable, cosy house set in a lovely village with superb walking opportunities from the doorstep and with the dramatic back-drop of Blencathra behind the house. With two pubs, a village hall and coffee shop in the village, some amenities were on the doorstep. Keswick from the village was 4 miles away, which is easily reached by car, regular bus service or by the beautiful scenic walk along the old railway line, very popular for walking and cycling.
The property was great for what we needed - a place to relax after a nice days walk. Despite the weather not cooperating, the property was in a great location to enjoy the two pubs in the village, near enough to good transport links to other parts such as Keswick or Penrith. The facilities in the house were great, an amazingly kitten out kitchen and all the items needed for our week there. Will be recommending to friends and family and hopefully will stay again.
