"The room was nice and clean but really in need of a renovation. The bathroom is very dated old shower and cracked tiles, fan in bathroom didn't work. The carpet and furniture and TV in the room are also dated but we were glad to have full sky channels. The staff were lovely and helpful and we enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Best aspects were the view and position on the lake as well as the heated pool. The grotto was still out of order. Overall I would say the room was like a 3 star and let's down the hotel."

"I had a pleasant stay overall. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the location is excellent—close to everything you need in Taupō. However, the property could really benefit from some upgrades. The furniture feels quite dated, the bed was not comfortable at all, and the sofa couch and carpet were not up to the standard shown in the photos. Also, be sure to bring your own toothbrush, as one is not provided. Overall, I’d rate this property 7/10. With some updates to the furnishings and better attention to guest amenities, it could be a much better experience."

"Great spot view was amazing and bed very comfortable, but many things in the heritage side need maintaining. Electrical crackling near the bed. Some lights didn't work. The shower head was split and leaking touch points were old and worn (toilet flush button etc) A note, some rooms say tub or shower. Not necessarily both. Last time we stayed here I think we got the best room they had. This time was supposed to be deluxe but was just ok. Staff were great though."
