Tropical getaway

Easy going and well appointed
The property was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Walking to coffee, dinner, the beach, or local shopping was mostly easy. The street past the property can be quite busy and has no sidewalk. The host provided towels and bleach gear for our use, which was very appreciated. WiFi was fast, linens were fresh, and there were enough fans to make sleeping very comfortable. We’re already considering our next visit - thanks again!

Nice stay in Kona
Jim was great and mad our stay very enjoyable. The place is comfortable and well equipped. Kona Village is close (less than 5 minutes by car and a 15 minute walk). The road is not conducive for walking (no sidewalk for a section of it), so you need to be nibble and keep your head on a swivel if you like to walk. The location is very convenient - but the price you pay is noise from traffic. That is true anywhere and Kona is no exception. Overall, we had a great time!

Kona Paradise!!
I am not even sure where to start! Jim was an incredible host; welcoming and made us feel right at home. The condo was very well stocked with all the comforts of home and was clean and well-appointed. The rooms were spacious and bright. We were happily surprised at the well-stocked beach supplies including chairs, towels, snorkel gear and boogie boards. We enjoy experiencing new places on foot so the location was awesome in both directions on Ali’i Drive to really feel a part of the action. We recommend this listing 100% and will always hold this vacation near and dear to our hearts. Mahalo Kimo!

Cute, Comfortable, and Convenient
We certainly enjoyed our one-night stay at Kimo’s Getaway. Jim met us at our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. When we said we were getting ready to go on a snorkeling trip, he offered us towels from his supply, which we really appreciated. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was well-equipped. Since we were only spending one night in Kona, it was rather difficult to find places that would accept a reservation for that length, so we were very grateful to find such a great option.

A lovely experience
We had a great stay at Jim's lovely apartment. We enjoyed the lanai, the sunsets, the outdoor shower, the well stocked kitchen, to close access to Kailua Kona. It was spacious and comfortable. We found a route to walk to downtown that avoided the busy road (go up to the Tea Licious parking lot and at the other side of the parking lot you will see a pathway to a road where you can easily find a sidewalk on which to travel safely into the town. We enjoyed this walk. One thing to note if you, like us, are new to the kind of sunscreen that is used on the Hawaiian islands--be very cautious with the spray sunscreen as it can make a big mess if you spray it on the lava stones near the outdoor shower. For Jim's sake, please learn from our mistake and do not spray suncreen inside the house, near the house, or near the outdoor shower. Jim was a kind and responsive host. Thank you Jim for hosting us, for providing a beautiful place to enjoy the big island, and also those amazing mangoes.

Perfect place for a stay in paradise
Ideal location and beautiful view! This has all of the amenities of home, the host was great to work with, and the I've been to Hawaii several times and always had issues with bugs no matter how clean the location but I don't think we saw more than a couple of ants and a spider while we were there. Amazing! My son also especially enjoyed the "free range chickens" that roamed the area. A great place to stay!

Great stay with amazing sunsets
We stayed just over two weeks, and it felt like home away from home. Jim was around (in the upstairs apartment) so if we ran out of essentials or needed anything, he was there to help!

Great spot in Kona!
Very friendly owner, explained his property very well. The location was great, a really short walk from lots of restaurants and bars and beaches! Enough parking for two cars, the beds were comfortable and the view from the rental is amazing. Jim placed fans around the house to keep everyone cool and provides all sorts of Snorkel gear and booties for people to use. I couldn't have asked for more!

A Week By The Beach
We were in Kona for a week. The property was clean and well equipped. Jim was a great host and was very respectful of our privacy. It was a 5 minute walk to the beach and in the evening you could sit on the lanai and watch the sunset and feel the ocean breeze! A little slice of heaven!

Jim's property was a clean, comfortable place to stay on our last night in Hawaii. It was a short drive to beaches and dining along the waterfront. The traffic going by the property was a little noisy (but we are spoiled because we live in a very small town with very little traffic noise) but other than that it was a great place to stay!

Smart flat with a sea view.
This is a very nice new upstairs downstairs duplex with upstairs owner access on one side and downstairs guest access on the other side so you do't get in each others way. It's a very smart open plan design will executed with quality materials throughout. Modern bathroom and well equipped kitchen with granite counter tops and brand new appliances. Jim, the owner is a cordial host. It's close to the center of tourist activities, easy highway access and grocery stores. I would definitely visit again.

Loved staying at Kimo's. The home is clean and comfortable with nice extras such as snorkeling gear, location walkable to downtown Kona, and we saw whales from the lanai! Gorgeous sunsets, also. We would stay here again.

Low key out of the Ali’i Drive madness
What a beautiful, recently updated lower level flat/apt. The sunset lined up perfectly out on the lanai. Comfy seating and semi private. Pleasantly thought out comfort in every room. Great kitchen with lots of space and worth staying in to cook. This is a hidden jewel. * no network Tv, in case you’re looking to watch a game/ match. Cheers.

Amazing find
Great location above Ali'i drive. Close to the beach, shops and dining. Surprisingly nice view outside of the lanai of the ocean with amazing sunset views. Jim had recommendations if we needed. The house has nice touches throughout the home. We'll definitely return.

Just what we needed
Fragrance free vacation rentals are hard to find and our experience is that a promised fragrance free rental is anything but. Kimo’s Getaway host said it was “virtually fragrance free” and it was! Just what we needed! Thank you!

Blue water views
Bright airy and very comfortable with everything you could need. Lanai is a wonderful space to sit and watch the sunset. Jim was exceptionally gracious, kind, and easy to work with and the location was perfect for accessing the best of the Kona coast.

Great place to stay
Stayed one night, wonderful arrangement to sleep 4 adults. Very good sunset view, and Jim was wonderfully friendly and accommodating in every way. Only knock would be little bit difficult to walk to and from the beach on a small busy road, best off making the short drive to a parking lot near the coast and walking from there. 5/5 stay, will stay again when we make it back to Kona.

Good experience
Property is clean and more spacious than on the photos, some ocean views and easy drive from Kona airport. Our flight was late at night , we could stop by the store and having some drinking water in the house would be great. Aside from this it’s a great place to stay.

Centrally located but private
The place is centrally located, walking distance to oceanfront shopping and dining (less than a mile), a quarter mile to the closest beach. There’s very nice little cafe just three houses up the street. Short drive to everything. The hosts are very nice and helpful. They live upstairs, but the whole first floor is yours, including a private lanai, so there’s no privacy issue. We liked pretty much everything about the place, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind. There’s no AC (with plenty of breeze, windows, and ceiling fans we were comfortable at all times, but just be aware). There are a lot of birds, and it may get loud in the morning with windows open (unless you are an early riser; I personally enjoyed the natural alarm). If you are lucky you may even get some fresh island chicken eggs for breakfast! The street is kind of steep and there’s no sidewalk, so the last short stretch walking back from the village can be annoying, especially with a stroller. The Roku TV is very slow. If you’re planning to watch TV consider bringing your own streaming device. Overall, I recommend the place if you like it private but close to everything.
