"Never could I have imagined the quintessence of Elm Cottage Barn. It’s charm, character and peace carries you away from the chaos of the real world to a special far away place for the time you stay. A surreal and elegant warmth embraces and encapsulates you, beckoning you to never want to leave. Ps the bed is very cosy and comfortable, the amenities quirky in character with the decor theme and convenient. "

"We read the reviews and were intrigued. We stayed in winter, and it is cold in Bothwell. It would have been much more inviting if the hosts had the heater running prior to our arrival, but once the property warmed up after a few minutes the shock of how cold it was faded away. We stayed in the 1837 cottage. The accommodation is rustic, eclectically furnished and decorated, and gives an appreciation of life in times gone by. If you are after elegant, refined and well finished accommodation this property is not for you, however if you enjoy history that you can touch and feel the cottage is adorable (we were the latter). Would definitely stay here again but you need to accept the accommodation for what it is - a lower class colonial piece of history."
