Gateway Hotel and Conference Center at Iowa State University
10/10 Excellent
"This is a great place to stay if you’re in Ames. We found the room to be large, furniture and bed was comfortable. It’s very quiet and other guests were very pleasant.
They have a unique shower head and provide directions-which are helpful. Parking is close to the entrance. "
"This hotel was perfect for passing through. He was very, the staff, the building was quiet, all look great for the kids. The only downside was the large hot tub wasn’t working. The breakfast was also limited in choices."
"This place is amazing. I’ve never stayed in a place quite like this. I got one of the cottage themed rooms and it was amazing. It was extremely comfortable (except for the pillows but it’s rare to get good pillows in a hotel). It was so spacious it felt like the room kept going. The room I booked had a fireplace which helped my wife stay warm even though I was hot and she was cold. The shower had good room and pressure. The woman who checked me in was very friendly and informative. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to Des Moines but if I do I’m staying here no questions ask. In fact I’m going to find out if Stoney Creek has other places. I loved this place. "
"Needed a quiet room for one night. The hotel is older and the hallways show some age. But our room was very nice and clean. The beds are comfortable and the room was quiet. The breakfast had a nice variety of choices. "
"Staff was helpful and friendly. I was staying here for business but was also able to have family come and visit. Walking into the lobby, there is a terrific smell. I spent 4 nights and decided to get a larger room with a sofa and mini kitchen. We stay here usually 2 - 3 times a year. They also accept pets for a charge.
The only place I found to be somewhat dirty was the elevator carpet. Otherwise the hotel was great!"
"This has become our hallway stop to Dallas- check in is easy, the hotel is beautiful, the beds are comfy, the rooms are spacious and modern, the breakfast is accommodating. The kids love the pool. It checks all our boxes"
