Summary:
This lovely four bedroom, 2 full bath cabin (also known as The Barn) is a unique property located at Wendover, the former historic home of Mary Breckinridge's Frontier Nursing Service. Perfect for guests who are working in the area or coming back home to visit family and friends. Very clean, comfortable and sleeps up to 8 people. Nice deck on the back with mountain views. Please note this property has no kitchen but we do offer a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker.
The Space:
This 4 bedroom, 2 full bath rental is located on the second floor of this building. There are two bedrooms with queen beds and there are two bedrooms with twin beds, a total of 6 beds. There is no kitchen but we do offer a mini fridge, microwave and drip coffee maker. There is also no living room but there are chairs in each bedroom and one bedroom has a small dinette table. We can also provide guests with a grill if needed, just let your host know in advance.
Guest Access:
You will have total privacy on the second floor and you must climb a full set of stairs. The groundskeeper lives in a small apartment on the first floor but there is no access to the top floor, you will have it all to yourself. We ask that guests park in the parking lot and not in the single space in front of the Barn. This space is needing for vehicles turning around.
The Neighborhood:
The cabin aka "The Barn" is located on the historic property of Wendover, the original home of Mary Breckenridge's Frontier Nursing Service.
Other Things to Note:
This cabin, which we lovingly call "The Barn" provided housing for students and staff of Mary Breckenridge's Frontier Nursing Service. It is almost like a small dormitory building with lots of charm and character. Guest love the quiet location and comfortable rooms. We also have other spaces for rent on the property, the Cottage and Suite at the Garden House and individual bedrooms at the Garden House. If you are interested in booking any of these additional spaces message me and I can add them to your reservation. Also, when you enter the address into GPS please be sure and take the route that brings you by the Leslie County High School, the other route is more difficult but not impossible. One last thing guests should know, the wifi works great but texting and cell service can be difficult for some providers. I suggest you make a note of the address and the keypad code before you arrive because you may not be able to access the internet while driving. Once you reach the property you will be able to connect to free wifi and should have no trouble making a wifi call. You are in the heart of the Appalachian mountains when you are at Wendover so please understand its not our fault if you can't get a call to go through. On a good weather day, you may get a call out, but we can't promise.
Interaction with Guests:
I rarely meet guests in person but I'm always on duty. We do have an Ambassador who offers tours for guests and we have a housekeeper who takes care of all the properties. If you need anything let me know and I will contact them to assist you. They are happy to help!
