"Beautiful castle and location. Our room was lovely and we had a good experience dining in the atmospheric castle dining room. The decor of the bar and lounge were also very atmospheric, just as you would expect from a castle and enhanced the experience. The grounds were good to explore. We joined the "history tour" of the castle and this was a very enjoyable and informative 40 minutes, including going up to the tower."

"Val is a lovely friendly host. The cottage is brilliantly located if you're interested in Hadrian's wall and all it's history, being stone's throw from Vindolanda and the iconic walk from Steel Right to Housesteads. It is very peaceful,an ideal getaway from everyday life"

"A special thanks to the team here - I'd gotten lost walking the wall (a recurring theme on this trip). They called me as dark approached, and sent someone out to find me and pick me up - a not-quite-so-uncommon occurrence from what I was told. They even kept the kitchen open a bit late for me, which I sincerely appreciated. The food (breakfast and dinner) was also excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and I was provided with directions and a steer back to the trail the next morning. They really go above-and-beyond here."

"We had a brilliant getaway at the bunker. Lovely romantic place for an anniversary trip. Amazing location and so convenient for local walks at Hadrian's wall. With it being in a dark skies zone we were able to do a bit of stargazing and were lucky enough to see a meteor shower. The accommodation was perfectly clean and has almost everything you could need. (I could have done with a hairdryer, it's possible I just couldn't find it!) The kitchen was well equipped and the TVs were Internet enabled and you could just login to your streaming services. Overall a wonderful place to stay."

"Fern Cottage is a small but beautiful place to relax and enjoy the best of what the area has to offer. In a quiet location ideally situated for anyone wishing to visit the roman sites or just relax in a peaceful rural location. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and the owner makes guests feel very welcome through all the homely touches and the welcome pack. Cannot recommend highly enough - book it now!"
