"If you're style is sleek, polished and ultra-modern, this is not a property you're going to enjoy. However, if you're looking for more of a wild west, creaky, rustic property (with modern bathroom upgrades, WiFi, and televisions, of course), this is the perfect place for you. The interior decor is a pleasing blend of Arts & Crafts, and log cabin styles that really suites the Chama "steam train" atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally attentive and very friendly. If you're looking for a room near the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railway, the property is literally across the street from the depot. If was an awesome experience to just sit on the hotel balcony and watch the steam locomotive moving about the rail yard. So, what are the negatives to staying here, you ask? Easy question to answer: There are none."

"I thought our room was lovely. But remember when booking this lodge they DO NOT have air conditioning!!! We were placed on a second floor so it was super HOT and our screen door was broken so we couldn't get cool air in. I went to the desk and the clerk was very good to us. He got our room switched and grabbed and extra fan to cool the space more until the cool evening air cooled off the room. We were only passing through, but it appeared to have lots of activities for people to do. It really depends on what experience you are looking for. It is in the process of being updated. Like I said the room was nice. Cozy blanket and pillows. Grateful to the young man who fixed our room issue!"

"Elk Meadows was an absolute gem. The house is beautiful and stocked with everything we needed — we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The real magic, though, was waking up to elk grazing in the meadow each morning and watching them again at dusk. One of the best-view rentals we’ve stayed in over the past few years. Perfect base for exploring Chama. Highly recommend!"
